What's new

Deosai: Where quietness is humming دیوسائی: جہاں خاموشی گنگناتی ہے

I am going there,, Next month Inshallah :) This is one of the two places i have dreamed of going to, an ambition you can say... :) the other one being Fairy Meadows and nanga parbat base camp.

Now our group is all set and ready, will be going next month and will decide weather to stay at Fairy Meadows and leave deosai for next tour or get done with it as well this time. Let's see!! My target is to extend the tour time and visit both places,, kal kis nay dekhii ha :)

If you must chose between the two then chose Deosai, hands down. You'll thank me later.

And this lake too is a beauty , cold but a beauty .

This one isn't Shandur it's Phandar Lake in Ghizar District. Shandur is above tree line.

indeed Beautiful ...
Shoeser lake is the most high altitude lake in pakistan
Shangrilla and this Shoeser Lake are mostly considered in world top 10 most beautiful lakes

Yarra the highest currently known lake in Pakistan is Rush lake. At 4,694 meters it beats Sheosar Lake (4,142 meters) by about 550 meters. Karambar Lake is another which is higher than Sheosar at 4,272 meters. The Barrah Broq Lake is also estimated at around 4,200+ meters but it hasn't been officially confirmed. Then there are others which haven't been found yet ;)

That's a beautiful place!
It reminds me of Ladakh. :)

Ladakh is mostly barren while Deosai is super lush in greenery. The brown/orange backdrop in the pictures that you see is grass during the fall season, you should see it in late spring and summer. This is what Deosai usually looks like,

The rugged terrain of Baltistan resembles Ladakh more but unlike Ladakh Baltistan has super narrow valleys with super steep mountains.

this place have similarities with Ladakh ... I guess the language that is being spoken in Khaplu and Skardu is same as Ladakh language

Not really. Bhoti or Ladakhi is the predominant language in Ladakh while Balti is the language of Skardu and Khaplu. Both these languages are derivatives from Tibetan but aren't mutually intelligible. The adjoining areas of Ladakh with Baltistan do speak Balti while there are a small number Bhoti speakers present on our side of the LOC too. Shina is also spoken in Ladakh but only in sparse pockets.

On Topic:

How many of you know that you can actually catch trout with your bare hands, during its season, in the hundreds of streams flowing through these plains?

Also, this guy lives there,
