But you know the politics of religion in North India.Perhaps an educated person from Hinduism will take that it in a positive way .But considering the large illiterate people in
our nation that statement was indeed needless.
An average person can say what would be the response of a common rural Hindu.They will protest against it.
Just think about another scenario.
Air India and GoI spend a lot of money for Haj pilgrims .
But if a priest from other community be it Hindu,Sikh or Christian pass a comment about the expense of the exchequer due to that pilgrim you would see the anger of a common muslims.
Our people psyche are like that.They dont tolerate an opinion from outside of the community.
Majority of our people still give priority to caste and religion than wisdom .Even educated guys in some cases, then you can understand the response of an illiterate person or conservative common people.

Com'on you people.. I don't think he said 'Garba is satanic or demonic in it's essence'. He merely commented on the way 'Garba has lost its true essence and is now being used as a cover for sinister purposes'. While I don't agree with either statements, I do believe there is nothing wrong with what he said.
In retrospect, I think he might not be wrong after all. See what what we have made of our festivals? How many of us actually take part in Holika dahan the night before Holi. Haven't we made Holi an excuse for a day full of 'Masti' without understanding the essence of the festival. And Diwali too. While I still see most of us performing 'Laxmi Puja and Ganesh Puja', there are others who are just not interested in the Puja and take it as an opportunity just to play with fireworks.
Nothing wrong with celebration but celebration should be the culmination of festivities in its true essence.

See, that is the point most Indian Hindus here miss. Where did the Imam criticize the Hindu religion or the Navarathi Garba festival itself ? He purely pointed out that it is being used for selfish ("demon") purposes. He maybe a Muslim of India but that doesn't stop the Imam from being a religious authority. If he voiced his concerns about a religious event being hijacked for sinister purposes then that is his right in secular India.
