Demarcation of the maritime boundary.

It’s a reality that India Pakistan boundary is one of the most complex boundaries in the world,this boundary is divided in to Working Boundary, Line of Control, and International Border and there is going to be another addition, which is Maritime boundary.

In this year Pakistan Maritime security agency arrests many Indian fishermens & also captured their boats for allegedly violating territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, Due to these arrests, Indian Government is under domestic pressure as well as Gujarat government. As a result Indian government wants to discuss this matter with Pakistan and wants demarcation of the maritime boundary.

Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj said : the issue of Indian fishermen straying into Pakistan’s waters would be resolved soon with the installation of GPS in fishing boats and marking of the maritime boundary.

She also said “They (fishermen) want us to help them with information about the maritime boundary. The issue in relation to Pakistan would be soon resolved. We will install GPS and mark the maritime boundary line so that neither Pakistanis come to our side, nor do Indians stray to the other”.

She is also going to discuss this issue with Sartaj Aziz in Nepal and it might be on the top of her list after PathanKot. This all sounds very good ? No it sounds something else and it’s not that simple, dispute over the boundary in Sir Creek may complicate the maritime boundary demarcation between India and Pakistan. The effectiveness of this boundary will be like Line of Control unless sir creek issue is resolve.Gov of Pakistan should take this very carefully.

According to Commodore Ghazi Salahuddin of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency Every month around 600 Indian vessels and fishing boats, most of them equipped with Global Positioning Systems (GPS), intentionally enter the Pakistani seas for illegal fishing, posing a major threat to our marine resources. Seems all GPS are Pakistan bound.

Pakistan Navy and MSA are giving their best to defend the motherland. New scientific research survey vessel is need of time which will help a lot to present Pak view on maritime issues .

Our area is much more rich and clean - Indian area is polluted and over-fished. We need it to keep that way - so no demarcation.

It will be intrested to see how MSA or Navy response if India try to make visible floating marking along Sircreek or Maritime boundary.As indian claims overlaps Pakistan area.

If India looks for a demarcation and if we pt forward nice suggestions that Pak authorities cant reject we will surely demarcate the boundary .

Our coast guard will take care of our maritime boundaries. Sir Creek will be take care by BSF.

IRNSS should be made available .
And the government should make arrangements for safety of fishermen.

All others should be shot down , at least on our side. Coast Guard is powerful enough to do it.

What a nice suggestion. Really should Pak do same? So the more than 86 you just receive this month and more will receive on 23 march.all this not happen as per your advice? Is this is what you are advising for the saftey of indian fishermens?

Agreed,as there is "if" ,both parties were almost done on sircreek before as per media reports.any demarcation along disputed region make it disputed.other than india can do few km inside as it is in kashmir.

Pak fishermen will also arrest by ICG in here .So if GoI goes for GPS or IRNSS without a deal, Indian fishermen will stay in our waters but Pak fishermen will surely find trouble .
Then it wont be that nice

Yap its a point,well MSA now working with WWF so fishermens will get the GPs.recently workshops are done.Also MSA claims most of indian boats were with Gps so seems techs showing the disputed regions as good to go

Or Fishermen tries for a game for more money .
Boundary would be designated with the help of GoI not independently .
