Delhi told to curb phensedyl smuggling

Last I heard India is a secular country... what about the non-hindus.... why deprive them of their share of Beef ? ... Bhodrolok BS.
Can't believe propaganda news in India.
Beef is not banned... public slaughter is.... There are not many slaughter houses in India, a lot of the meat sold on the street is cut in the open by the individuals selling meat... although a lot of the major cities now have many slaughter houses all over.
How else do you think India makes leather products? and more so exports them as well?

Bokar moto khotha bolo na. (Don't talk like an unlettered)

Who told you beef is not eaten by even Hindus?

No one is deprived.

If you are a Bangladeshi, then come over and see our Park Circus Market or go to Bangalore and see Russel Market.

The Indian beef is not that good (and I have eaten it) since they are all the cattle out to pasture and it is profitable for the smugglers to send it to Bangladesh.

Try Australian, or the Argentinian. They are good,

The US beef is horrid!

BTW I am from Barisal.

Why don't you guys research a bit before posting? BEEF IS NOT BANNED IN INDIA. . Public cow slaughter is.

OK I will go with you. Why ban the slaughter. Why Hindu appeasing rules. India is the shining beacon of secularism, its more like half a** secular.

Public slaughter is banned because it's offensive to majority of people, just as Taslima's and Rushdi's books are banned in India. To me all of these are deviation from the secularism, the western way of secularism if we stress on technicalities, Indian way of secularism is accepting all religions which is different from separating religion and state.

India avoids anything that might offend religious sentiments. Has Banned books to appease muslims and Christians too. In this case, Islam does not recommend slaughtering cows over goats or any other animal right? So why not slaughter a goat instead? This the least the muslims could do for the Hindus. Actually I don't think the Indian muslims care at all.

I agree.. Indian secularism is more about religious appeasement than non-religiousness. That is why we have these useless , unnecessary practice of arranging pilgrimage to Haj , manasarovar and Amarnath. But till our people are matured there is no other way.

I think it's because we never needed to separate Church and State in India. Dharmic religion monks (used to!)mind their own business in mountains and jungles as opposed to their Abrahamic religion peers who poke their nose in politics.

Did you ever read any of Taslima's book. I am not commenting on the content, but she is a horrible writer. Its nothing but rant. Rushdie on the other hand knows how to write. He has some skillz !!

I liked Amar Meyebela, didn't like Lojja and Dwikhandito. She is an average writer, bit hyped because of controversies related to her. Anyway the point is, India may have to walk some more extra miles to proclaim herself a secular state, but the appeasement or whatever you may call that, is truly secular in nature. They appease all because it's the easiest way out.

yes i do agree..even today the minorities are playing region card in politics.but i do not support cow slaughter ban.there is a need to fine tune our secularism as we got minor bias towards minorities and majorities in different matters.
