Pakistan is now in process of creating ways to confirm the authenticity of degrees. The intervention of Supreme Court will force Higher Education Commission to have procedures in place.

Pakistan should have database where are all degree holders must be registered and conformed by colleges and universities. In the Internet age, all students graduating must have their names and photos on the University websites. Students take photos and videos of their graduating classes and post them on Facebook and Youtube. That will deter future fake degree holders since they may not be in those group photos. In Canada and US, they have yearbooks in all schools with photos of all students. We should have the same in Pakistan.

I agree this should all be implemented. A computer record system should be kept for not just school records but all important documents. It will take time and effort but it is the only way to prevent people from not putting in the time in their respective fields.

I agree, todays Education system is pathetic, and its makes you lazy. But this doesn't means A guy having just a Degree and A guy having just a Fake degree are same. Experience is another thing. But degree holders have at least some knowledge in their field, and they can make a head start against other. You said you hired MBAs or ACCA, can i ask you, why don't you hire illiterate for the same task?

A guy having just a fake degree is cleverer than a guy who possesses genuine. Both have same paper. But first one has not spoiled his 24 early years of life only in getting that paper.

Yes they really have at least some knowledge of their field. And I tell you, exactly this is the reason why employers demand degrees from job candidates. Because employers don't need ppl having MORE knowledge.

Few days back, I google searched to see exactly why employers demand degree certificates from job applicants. One convincing argument that I found was that presence of degree/certificate gives enough surety that the applicant is determined … he has spent 24/25 years of his life in order to become a good employee. He is submissive and he shall obey the commands of employer. Employers don’t like that employees be able to “plan” the things by themselves. Employers tend to keep planning aspects in their own hands. They prefer and like their own plannings. They don’t really need employees competent enough to plan the things. They only need obedient people who have good track record of completing “assignments” in time.

Education system may be all good in terms of recognition in employment sector. But role of education system is not to spread knowledge. It’s role is to produce obedient people to meet the ongoing demands of employers.

You said you hired MBAs or ACCA, can i ask you, why don't you hire illiterate for the same task?

Apart from above mentioned reasons, I tell you some more REAL reasons. I received CV of a competent MBA (Marketing) person having impressive experience. But I did not dare to offer him job. Because as per his resume, he possesses enough knowledge of Computer Databases that he could copy and sell my software in his own name. I just could not take this risk. I do need software marketers but I need ppl having "some" knowledge of only Accounting and I don't need ppl having good knowledge of Computer Accounting.

A crew who successfully flies and lands passenger planes ... should be awarded honorary degrees instead of throwing them out for just fake degrees.

ISLAMABAD: PIA has expelled 200 employees who got employment on the basis of fake degrees, a private TV channel reported. The national airlines had received information about hiring of people in the company on political basis having fake degrees in 2008. On the basis of the said information, orders were issued to look into the matter of fake degree holders employed after 1997. At least 750 employees degrees were proved to be fake. The company ordered these employees to fulfill the required standard for PIA job. However, 200 employees failed to submit their original degrees and the company has fired them.

Actually "fake" degree holders have not been expelled. Only those ppl having no degree at all have been expelled.

Those hired on fake degrees were in ticketing, management and admin and not pilots. For starters to pilot a commercial airline you need a CPL (which takes years and years of training and tons of cash), then you need flight time experience and need to have a broadbrush knowledge of FAA regulations.

So whilst it's true that people were hired in PIA with fake degrees, non of them were pilots.

what are you all crying about..? he is one of us and this is our true face.. you all are babbling at him right now, but in next elections, not even 2 % of u ppl (educated community) will go out and vote for the good of this country.. Thus we all leave un-educated and fool ppl to vote, and in the end we always end up having such ba$tards as our leaders..

And I would liek to add that in some case even when some has studied and is clued up on teh subject - he not nessarily get the job that his degree intends to get or even getting any job.
In some cases the employer employs you for your looks or any other bizzare reason and you will never know why you were rejected in an interview.
It comes to the [point that spending the time and money to get a degree is really not worth it.
