Defying Govt Ban, Tamil Leaders In Sri Lanka Celebrate Prabhakaran's Birthday In His Home Town

.
ban was also imposed by India but Tamils defied the ban to remember their martyrs

So, enough time has passed for Sri Lankan Tamils to forget the price paid by them for failed efforts of a terrorist megalomaniac?

1. Sri Lanka is a small country. How many bifurcations can be made?
2. Sinhala majority (Buddhists) needs to give space for Tamils (Hindu) by de-emphasizing religious nationalism and emphasizing shared destiny for sake of the country.
3. India had played a very negative role in encouraging the formation and strengthening of LTTE in the past decades, and paid the price by losing Rajiv Gandhi to a Tamil suicide bomber. India must reign-in Tamil nationalism that had been used to feed LTTE from India.
4. Pakistan should support Sri Lanka like they did through out the ordeal of the struggle against LTTE terrorists. The best way to do so now would be to suggest that Tamils be made to feel a part of the nation, and not a pariahs. Of course this can only be done by using the finest diplomatic language and skills. Pakistan can not interfere in Sri Lankan affairs, nor can it be seen to be doing so.
5. Chinese now have a big stake in the success of Sri Lanka as a state and an economy. I am sure that they must have taken note of such developments. Success of Chinese economy in lifting an astounding number of people out of poverty in the last 3 decades is nothing short of miracle, and that too without any overt nationalist movement thwarting this development, despite the geographical size, disparity, & multiple ethnicities that call China home. All the countries, including Sri Lanka, could learn positive lessons from this example.

get your facts correct , LTTE cadres were mostly christian. It was not a religious conflict but a language based.

Aryan Hindia*n RAW and Aryan Sinhala coalition punnakku (BS) to paint Tamil freedom struggle as a Church sponsored agenda.

LTTE cadres were 80 % Hindus , the fight was racial (Aryan vs Dravidian), lingusitic (Sinhala vs Tamil) and religious (Buddhism vs Tamil Saivism). Although a sizable Eelam Tamils are Christians.

Prabha did not become a Christian. He was always a Hindu with a secular outlook……….. DBSJ (DBS Jeyaraj)

what was the number of Tamil churches destroyed in the war in comparison to Sinhala army's deliberate shelling Tamil Hindu Temples ?

that is what I said, seems you have severe comprehension problem.

then logically the majority of Sinhalas are Buddhists and Tamil are Saivites which boils down to a religious conflict.

Are you denying the fact that Sinhala Buddhists and its clergy are not extremist Buddhists ?

The Tigers are fighting for a separate homeland in the north and east for the Tamils, a mostly Hindu minority which has suffered decades of discrimination from the Buddhist Sinhalese majority..The hard-line monks are at the vanguard of Sinhalese Buddhist nationalism, which views Tamils as outsiders.

As the government intensified its battle against the separatist Tamil Tigers, the monks’ backing gave religious legitimacy to the state’s claim of protecting the island for the Sinhalese Buddhist majority.

The killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka by the Sinhala-Buddhists even today is due to this ethno-religion known as Sinhala-Buddhism (or Mahavamsa-Buddhism).
