Defense and Aerospace Industries Exporters' Association Chairman Latif Aral Alis stated Turkey's aim as 6th place in export after the USA, Russia, Germany, France and Britain. Alis stated that Turkey started to create its own technology to compete in international area, indicating that imitation period in Turkey is over.
Alis stated that Turkey aims to rise to 6th place in export after the USA, Russia, Germany, France and Britain. According to the statement made, Chairman Alis stated that the sector initiated a great move as the result of correct policies of Turkey, in which private sector also contributes.
Stating that reverse brain drain has a huge significance in peculiar and high technology production of Turkey, Alis indicated also that Defense and Aerospace Industries Exporters' Association is the most rapidly growing exporters' association of Turkey. Alis continued saying that Defense and Aerospace Industry needs unmanned and effective devices and vehicles, which includes electronic war systems, support systems, logistics services, R&D, software, engineering and manufacturing services.
Alis stated that Defense and Aerospace Industry is promising for Turkey and Turkey has to focus on export, not only import in this field. Alis emphasized that being focused on export helps Turkey compete in international area and develop original projects. He also mentioned that the sectoral export increased to 832 million dollars by 70% in January-August period of 2012, and it will reach 1.5 billion dollars at the end of the year, stating that export potential is much higher than before right now in Turkey.
"Highest export to the USA"
Alis stated that the highest export rate of Turkey this year belongs to the USA with 39.2%, and lots of products were exported to this country, such as airplane and helicopter materials, and electronic war weapons. Alis also stated that some countries import services instead of materials from Turkey, such as Malaysia's unmanned marine vehicle that Turkey develops. Turkey now aims to go to the Middle Asia, Far East and Africa with this vision in marine vehicles as well as land and air vehicles.
Alis stated also that SME's will also be exporting with high speed, and with the Turquality Project initiated towards Far East and Southeast Asia, SME's are in target.
"No SME's should remain without export in sector"
Alis mentioned that Turkey initiated the project of taking inventory of Defense and Aerospace Industry, stating that SME's operating in sector have a huge potential and thus, Turkey is on its way to define the method in export priority and target countries' needs. SME's in Turkey are aimed to reach over a thousand, he states and says that SME's will be directed to export by strong organization. Alis stressed that defense and security expenses worldwide reached 1 trillion 738 billion dollars.
