Recently, I have come across two highly disconcerting articles. Each article is posted in its own thread, but I want this to be a 'meta' thread to analyze the implications when both articles and other world news are considered in totality.
First thread:
https://defence.pk/threads/‘soft-border-approach-can-bring-india-into-cpec’.469027/
Second thread:
https://defence.pk/threads/the-genius-of-the-uns-resolution-on-israeli-settlements.469119/
The disconcerting bit is at the very end
At this point, I must say I haven't verified the veracity of the first thread where the author appears to be Indian referring to a Chinese academic. To what extent his words have been twisted and misrepresented, I am not sure. But let's take this at face value and consider it an agenda being pushed by a certain Indian lobby.
The main problem here is the trivialization of Muslim sovereign concerns. In both cases, non-Muslim thinkers are condescendingly proposing a revision of Muslim geo-political doctrine, without even involving Muslims in the discussion. And the implications for Muslims are severe indeed.
Historically, due to corrupt or inept leaders, Muslim countries have been unable to safeguard their own vested interests on international forums. As examples, look at:

And in Pakistan's case, readers of this forum and well aware of Pakistani government's foreign policy failures

If this crass attitude continues, we risk losing much more. In the case of the Palestinian issue, the idea is to merge Palestine and Israel into one democratic state. Given the heinous, inhuman treatment of Palestinians in Israel, who is to say that in the resulting 'democracy', some would be more equal than others? And in the case of Pakistan, the idea is to undermine our principled, unshakeable stand that Indian rule over Kashmir must end and the fate of Kashmir must be decided by the Kashmiri people.
These are only two examples. If we look at the developments in Syria during recent years, Turkish sovereign concerns have been undermined by none other than USA by supporting and nurturing the Kurds.
I do not intend to propose solutions in this post. The intention is to instigate a discussion and invite our members to ponder upon the significance of these developments. These are matters which Islamic governments around the world need to be aware of, and must take into account in their foreign affairs policies. Whether they will actually take action is another question entirely.

In the meantime consider the following motion, an elegantly simple one: "Given that Israel continues to defy the 2016 resolution of the Security Council and spreads settlements so that a Palestinian state is no longer possible we move that every resident of Greater Israel be afforded equal rights. This includes the right to vote in national elections."
How would you vote on that motion – in a parish council or church synod? At a union or party conference? A council meeting? On a campus?
And what happens next?
