Nope, the Americans have pitched to build American fighters in India but there wouldn't be anything "joint" about it- they want to have 100% ownership of the production units in India (entirely in the face of the GoI's Make in India policy and the DPP).

India can't wait that long.

What is the point of having any Indian partnership in the production of American fighter aircraft ?

What is a pathfinder project?

The projects are not critical for success, are cheap and meant to lay out the rules on how the partnership will work in the future for larger projects.
