Navy and Air Force representatives showcased their day-to-day activities, especially those engaged in serving the people
Seven agencies of the Defence Ministry participated in the three-day long 4th National Development Fair held in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar that ended on Saturday.
The seven agencies of the Defence Ministry attending the event were the Army, Navy, Air Force, Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Land Record and Survey Department, Directorate General of Medical Services (DGMS), and Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (Sparrso).
The goal of the fair was to inform the public about the various planned, ongoing, and completed development initiatives of the government.
Bangladesh Army provided free medical treatment to visitors at the fair, while DGMS held a blood donation drive and informed fair goers about ways to diagnose various diseases.
Navy and Air Force representatives showcased their day-to-day activities, especially those engaged in serving the people.
The weather department briefed the crowd on the body’s system of relaying important weather updates to the people. They also distributed leaflets regarding safety measures in the event of earthquakes, cyclones, and lightning storms.
Meanwhile, Sparrso discussed its initiatives to help the public using satellite technology, such as forecasting storms, floods, cyclones, and droughts, and provided information about natural resources.
The Land Record and Survey Department relayed information about digital mapping to people at the fair.
Several other ministries, divisions, departments of the government, along with various non-government organisations took part in the fair with stalls and other attractions.
The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister via video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban, with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and several top officials of the Defence Ministry present at the fair at the time.
