Default Wall Street Journal: Chinese to Buy GM Stock

. .
What a terrible idea. Stock professionals look for any reason to sell GM. What company sells a record number of cars and STILL loses money for the year? GM is a zombie.

This is unless China is going to be seeking to acquire GM's asia division then it would be a great idea. :)

Actually the "new" GM is in a great position..reason is that pretty much all the debts have been swallowed by the US govt. If the Chevy Volt is a hit(and all indications are it will be)..GM will be on a upward chart.

. .
With a 1% holding?

1% is not that much. but what if the percentage goes up in the future?

We have been experienced a lot of such things before, China brought a company, then it became to lose profit and finally declear bankruptcy.

to rob others in a military war, at least you have fight your enemy; but here, in an economic war, all you need to do is to change the policies.

Toyota is definitely still profitable. Why would they(the Japanese) sell it?

With China's auto industry in the rise, Toyota would have to find new shelter, so selling them to India for potential market would be a good solution.

Won't happen..GM is an American institution and will never pass to foreign hands. One of the reasons they were saved from disaster 2 years back.

in the future this might bbe : "GM was an American institution and will never pass to foreign hands more than xx%".

so when xx% is big enough, then maybe it is worth to close it. because, US has nothing to lose anyway. they could easily establish another company call GMII which is located in the same place with the same staffs.

It doesn't matter if China acquires GM or not in the future, it does matter that China's auto industry is on the rise at speed, nothing can stop it to take the crown of the auto industry.

to some extent, it matters.

today in US, those who advocasting "good Sino-US relationships" are those who earning money from China; while the hawks are those who can earn money from fighting China. This is what politic is indeed. so if some chinese politician can be benefited from GM's expand, they won't hesitate to slow down the chinese indigenous auto industry.

Yes, China can keep cool with those pro-business oriented Republicans. As long as we are at the rise and we possess all the technology, we can always keep cool with them. :chilli:
