Decrease in Average Height of Adults in India Alarming: Study

Yes there is. This is apparent in both different ethnicities as well as rich/poor divide in each ethnicity.

India has a huge rich/poor divide and class/caste system contributes to that. Rich people in India are relatively better fed, fairer, taller and live in much better environments. Poor people are screwed in India, they have nothing and on top of it, they also look scrawny, short and malnourished.

Indian average HDI level in maternal and baby related (neonatal) HDI factors are much worse than in Bangladesh because no one cares about poor people in India generally, or their well-being.

This is more observable and prevalent in poorer undeveloped states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Orissa (Odisha). Conditions in these poorer states are so bad (some have compared these places to sub-saharan Africa in poverty levels), that they drag Indian average down for neonatal health indicators and averages. Indian Urban centers and the four largest cities usually have far better healthcare and transportation facilities, but only for upper class/caste folks, who live far better than their poorer cousins, even in cities.

The poor in India have no planned spending on them by the govt., they end up living in slums, drinking dirty water and generally having a far lower quality of life. Rich Indians are pretty selfish that way, they think it is their birth-right to exploit their own poor - they feel absolutely no shame about it. In this respect, the attitude in Bangladesh is very different - we have many, many poverty alleviation initiatives and there are many NGO's working to lift people out of poverty and improving their quality of life in various ways.

Talking about ethnicities, North Indians from Punjab (Sikh folks and especially the upper class Sikhs) are on avg. much taller than Eastern or South Indian folks. If you are lucky enough to be born in an upper class Indian family, you will naturally be taller and fairer, because you will be well-fed from childhood and don't have to work out in the hot sun. Poorer Indian kids are fed non-nutritious bare-subsistence meals and are subject to stunting from an early age.

Overall life expectancy at birth is 73.7 years in Bangladesh, while it is 69.1 years in India (4.6 years lower on avg. and 5 years lower for females)
Birth rate, fertility or the average number of children born to each woman is 2.15 per woman in Bangladesh while it is 2.4 per woman in India.
According to MOSPI, in India, the adult (15+ years) literacy rate is 69.3%, whereas Bangladesh’s literacy rate for 2019 was 74.68% on avg.

Well last time I went to China was four years ago. There are areas where the restrooms were very nice even though I still hate squat toilets even if they are clean. In places like the train station or older buildings, the toilets are pretty disgusting sometimes and they stink.

To be fair though China has improved a lot. While in the US, I feel like the public toilets are getting filthier than they were before and in some big cities, they are becoming quite disgusting. But overall the US is still a lot better when it comes to overall toilet cleanliness and no squat toilets thank god.
The dirtiest toilet in China is in the countryside. The Chinese government usually only builds roads for each village, but does not build roadside public toilets. Villagers don't have as much budget as cities, and they often raise own money to build public toilets in their villages. Due to insufficient funds, toilet facilities are often poor and lack of long-term cleaning.

The second is the toilets in crowded places such as scenic spots and railway stations. These places have complete toilet facilities and beautiful buildings, but not clean enough, because there are too many people.

The cleanest toilets are the family and hotel toilets. Of course, the toilets of families and hotels all over the world are very clean, so there's nothing to say.

I'd like to introduce the public toilets next to urban roads in China. It's clean and well equipped. Moreover, it also has the functions of accommodating patients with Alzheimer disease and lost children. There are free WiFi, 24-hour air conditioning or heating, hot water, bathroom, mobile library and so on. Its Chinese name is "驿站."

How are gas stations on big highways like nowadays? In the US they have a lot of big gas stations for heavily frequented highways.

The toilets in the expressway service area are very large, often dozens or even hundreds of compartments, so they are not crowded and relatively clean.

I don't believe this is true . From what I've seen most teen males nowadays are atleast 177cm (5'10)on average . I am myself 180cm (5'11)and most of my friends are in that range. I don't have any idea how this study was done and where

Then why the very first thing to shock this Indian girl is how tall Chinese are when she first visited China?

that's because there is generally a false stereotype in india that chinese people are short . So she must have felt that stereotype does not exist once she visited china .

Pakistanis are not that far behind Indians, especially given the recent prosperity under 30 years of democracy disseminated by establishment's favorite children Bhutto and Sharif clans, the growth has in fact stunted...
