Dear friends..... Of late in PDF almost all discussions are turning into arguments and point scoring rather than debating on the actual subject..... Both indian and pakistan members (including me) are responsible and now the quality of debates are going down day by day....

How can we get rid of this arguments and start debating and discussing??????

PS : My intention is to have a self introspection..... (Request : Pls do not troll)

. . . . .
Trolling bring members :D

Without trolling,no forum can survive n thats the reason indians are here n allowed

I believe we should maintain a civil environment. We can say anything but in a certain manner. The arguments tend to get more passionate and thus emotional because we start attacking the source rather than the premise. For example I saw a post by a fellow here saying 'Pakistan Army will deal with these so-called terrorits' to which an Indian fellow remarked 'Just like you guys dealt with Bengalis?' followed by an emoticon. This is bound to work up a person. A better way would have been for the other poster to write something like: 'Pakistani army has not had a good account in dealing with the insurgancy'. That was, I suppose, the premise.

Let's be clear why we are writing what we are writing; is it to insult the other person, show him down or dumb? Or is it to construct something, learn something or share something? If we do these things then there won't be any mud-slinging.

Moderation is the answer.

Both by posters and the moderators.

I really don't think that it is humanly possible to moderate a large amount of posts. This is a traditional method but I believe it can be used to a medium effect. If the members respect each other or argue the right way there won't be a problem. AND we should collectively ignore a troll e.g. ignore an Indian insulting Pakistanis (especially his fellow countrymen) and same for Pakistani trolls.

Besides what is suggested, use of the " report " button helps draw attention to things offensive.

1)many times one gets pissed off when the other party deny even the obvious facts and truth.that leads to a dead end of quality discussion. so more than winning an argument one should have the honesty to admit obvious facts and truthfulness to admit being wrong if and when his counter part points it out. A person who's stand/opinion has not been changed ever, at least on a single subject is a dishonest man..and that also means what ever time, posts you spend here in pdf is a waste because at the end of the day what you learned is important.
2) second problem is when you take time and construct a logical argument what you get from other side is often off topic rants, repeated circular arguments no matters how many times those lies have been debunked by multiple members.

* one suggestion to improve the quality of discussion is when ever you senior members and think tanks see your country men posting rubbish, troll, circular arguments you should take an initiative to point him the fault and given him the right link to learn about the subject before commenting any further.they might trust you and follow the suggestions because you carry the same flag.this should work with newbies at least.

Some posters don't take discussions seriously, some are habitual trolls- can't accept the fact that they have nothing to contribute to the said thread, some keep posting new threads like a machine without ever coming back for follow-up. IMO, prompt moderation is the only key to maintaining a good discussion.

I think this is a good suggestion..... (issue is most of the time the senior, elites are the one who does most of the arguments)..... But there are lot of seniors who are sensible and they can do what you have suggested

How can you forget the Chinese trolls? :taz: These are the guys who start with 1962 and end with 1962 even if the topic concerns a problem in Timbuktu!! Their rants are legendary. The only way one can get rid of arguments is to get rid of these douch-bags! (However, there are some good Chinese posters here like ChineseDragon etc who are well educated and discuss issues with intelligence. I wish we had more of them around).

Where the heck is the 'report button'?? :undecided: I need to know, quick!!!
