Debate between Pak-Army Soldier & Taliban & Pakistan's WoT

It's a report, it's not news. If it had been based on facts it would have been news. There's a difference between the two.
If journalists weren't free to criticize the army then Hamid Mir and Najam Sethi should have met the sack a long time ago.

My last argument still stands in this regard, PROVE that he was killed by the agencies or the military.

At that time, Drone attacks were a part of a covert op to get high priority militant targets without having to launch a military offensive in the tribal areas. As long as the military was in power, only 9 drone strikes occurred which show that this weapon was reserved for targets that were of high priority and confirmed by intel.
After Musharraf left and ISI/CIA relations deteriorated, the Americans began using the drones based on their own intel and will. Thus the increase in frequency of attacks.
And please do not distort facts. Although his family alleged at the time of his death that he was killed by the government. Local insurgents later admitted that they killed him because he was an alleged American spy.

Examples of facts twisted by the Army ?

They repost videos available on the web, I will have to post this on the net before showing it to you. It presents a considerable risk.

I need not waste my time. We showed it to journalists from far and wide and they concur with our assessment that the footage is doctored.

You can find plenty of propaganda posters on this as well, tell you what. Get any pathan on this forum, TaimiKhan will be a good choice and ask him about these claims. Anyone living in those areas will testify that the Taliban made considerable use of these for propaganda reasons.

1) By achieving 15% of their objectives it means that they met 15% of the operational workload. The rest has to be met by ground forces and political forces, it doesn't refer to destroying targets. It refers to completing the op.
2) The objective of calling in an Airstrike is not to "Kill Terrorists" rather to destroy their positions so that they cannot use them to ambush military and civilian convoys.
3) These stats are post-Talks. Before the breakdown of the Nizam-e-adal, there had not been a single military action against the terrorists in Swat.

1) Why do we find TTP terrorists hiding in our communities ? For the simple reason that it is easier to blend in, otherwise there is no shortage of mountains in Pakistan either.
2) Present 1 case where the PAF struck a populated area ? Priority-targets were always cleared through ground op, even though it cost us in terms of men and material.

I understood you the first time and I said that I unless the SC orders us to observe this clause, military detainees are not allowed to exercise this right. These are prisoners of war, they are not your common criminals.

Thank you for repeating, I said before that the intel agencies are legally allowed to detain suspects as long as need be without warrant if they are thought to present a threat to the nation. This practice is not peculiar to Pakistan but is practised globally.

Like I said before, our society vest a certain degree of authority in our agencies to protect them. The information these people hide is necessary for the protection of our people and if they share it willingly, they are rewarded. If not, then steps have to be taken to extract that information. You cannot criticize JUST the ISI or CIA or MI6 or Mosaad or FSB on this. It is a part of the global method for extraction of information.
I need not study the Abu-Zubaida case because the victim was not tortured by our agencies even after co-operating. What the CIA does is for the Americans to defend or denounce.

Like I said, the attack on parade lane was a military case and the accused was an adult. He has most probably been sentenced by a military tribunal.

1) She was an American citizen and is thus subject to American laws.
2) She was not taken from Pakistan, rather she was taken from Afghanistan as confirmed by her former husband.
3) She was a fanatic as she divorced her husband for not going to Afghanistan to fight ISAF and married a recognized terrorist.

Do a bit of research on this issue, you will find that things are different from how politicians paint it.

wow man argument for the sake of argument well lets see as far as Afia is considered let me tell u this one thing she was linked to Alqaida by none other then shaik mahumad sheik second her husband is also a very bonafide sourse who claimed that she was terrorist and the reason she divorced him was because he wont go in Afghanistan and fight there so Afia case closed now

Also how can u say that even 15 wasnt achieved did u lived in that place did u had a resource there are u a native living over there or are u just honking cause u have to honke
\and yes there is no morals when it comes to protect the nation army lied so what it did according ti the the idea od maslihet in islam that is there is no lieing as long it wasnt done for ur own benifit and it was used to conceal the crime but to save one person then yes there is no lieing in that

The core reason PAKISTAN is facing a war inside is because WE ARE ALLIES in the war on terror. The day we STOP being ALLIES, I won't be against our army, who was supposed to safeguard us. Not $ell us for Dollar$. I don't want to PRAISE an army, where just "watching or uploading a taliban video" will get me labeled as a terrorist (an above post...)

The Army is supposed to safeguard it and it is doing so quite well. That's coming from someone who is actually on-ground and not in Europe or the States.

Please, for a second, think from a different angle. WHY does a person willingly blow himself/herself up. And not just one? WHY does a person leave wealth, easy city life and go live in the mountains to fight a super power? I am not saying that they are necessarly right.. Just THINK with an OPEN mind and SEE if we are at fault too?

1) He blows himself up because he has been brainwashed into thinking that by doing so, he will be eligible for an orgy with 72 virgins. Period.
2) Other than OBL, none of these bastards has "left wealth, etc, etc, etc" that was the case in the 80s against the Soviets. Now, these fighters come from the lower part of society. They are illiterate and have serious inferiority complexes, suddenly they find themselves feared by everyone. It's a dream come true for someone who until yesterday was just another farmhand or donkey cart repairman.

Remember, ALLAH will NOT ask YOU, Who was Mullah Omer or Osama bin Laden or TTP? He will ask us, WHAT did WE do when OUR brothers, sisters, children were being killed by Non muslims in Afghanistan (and now Pakistan). Did we support them? Or fought against them? Or sat quietly?

I support them by supporting stability in their country, when the Taliban were in power cricket stadiums were execution grounds and football goal posts were gallows. There was no education, women were flogged in markets, brutality was rampant, progress was zero. The Taliban were the Khmer Rouge of Afghanistan. The population of Afghanistan supports the Americans against them, who am I to protest? The moment we stop being the "Abba" of the entire muslim world and realize that they despise us for our meddling attitude, the sooner we can actually form the atmosphere of Islamic fraternity that we have dreamed of since independence.

i think this will be my last post on this topic as honestly, I've not seen any positive outcome due to online/forums/chats etc. I also waste a lot of time which I could (and should) have used constructly somewhere else. Allah will also ask me about my time spent, and I fear I have no justification.

It's your time and you are to do with it as you please.

And I pray to Allah to help and guide us all! TTP, army, civilians, politicians etc etc and give us Hidaya. And help whoever is Right against the Wrong.

Ameen.

Ameen
Peace

Sum-Ameen.

You are entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. You will buy the info that further strengthen your belief and I will buy that strengthens mine.

hamid mir...........i said a journalist who reported indepently from tribal area unfortunately najim sethi e.g dosen't fall in that line.....saleem shehzad does

Which goes against your argument that the Army does not allow journalists to report from FATA.

video.....sorry i can't belive you unless you upload that.........you have enough time to negate me by sitting here but don't have 5 minutes to write description and give proof....if it is uploaded than provide link.............risk! a joke..............

I will happily right a description but I must remind you that you did not post the video you had mentioned either.
Description:*Taliban "Naat"(self praising song) plays in the background* A talib on a motorcycle drives through a deserted bazzar as the man behind him films, he takes a turn and suddenly the shot is cut and resumes but the guy in front has changed and so have many of the surrounding structures, the market is now filled with destroyed cars and the façade of the market is considerably damaged*Voice in the background: This Tangkhata Bazaar was targeted by the heavy artillery of Pakistan Army, there are over 300 dead and many more injured, businesses have been destroyed in the the Army's euphoria of power and people have no means of earning their bread, the Taliban shall avenge the people of Bajaur, God-willing* . They drive through the destroyed bazzar which is completely deserted and take care to focus on all the destroyed cars. There is debris strewn across the road and suddenly the shot is cut again. The shot resumes and the the old guy is back as they leave the bazzar. The Shot is cut again and resumes on an open road where a decomposed body of an FC soldier is lying on the road. The riders dismount the bike and kick the dead body*Dogs, the guy in front says*, they turn it over by kicking it and the one with the camera says: God has disfigured the murtad's face, he now reflects the evil he has committed and now resembles the devil with whom his soul pledged loyalty. Our people remain fresh for eternity, even after death because they are shaheed and God himself protects their bodies from decay, their bodies smell of the flowers of heaven who's garlands the angels put around their necks as they pay their respect to them. *Other Guy: Subhan Allah*.

The scene from the market was cut from an Afghan Taliban film which showed the result of an ISAF air strike that accidentally hit the bazaar which was situated in Kunnar. We saw the original film as well and copies were given of both videos to journalists as well. Truth is that there are no Artillery batteries around Tangkhatta the damage does not match the ballistic profile of an artillery strike. A large crater and damage to the surrounding structures is not Artillery damage.

Is that a good enough description for you ?

drone attacks............so you admitted army lied..........in covert ops it is legal to lie even ISPR can lie? a shameful act by ISPR.....leadership targeted in 7 drones....now they are targeting population?? even now they are targeting leadership...don't know how many leaders killed in last 1 years???? a frantic try to defend but failed...........so why army lied to nation while america from the very first said they did it what a covert op????

The whole point of a covert operation is to complete the op covertly, which means maintaining complete secrecy.
I don't see where you are taking this but it seems like a desperate attempt at derailing the discussion as it is in no way in context of this entire exchange.

hayat khan???????????? what happened to him??????????you missed it and then demanded proof of distorted facts what a sane argument.........

You are welcome to provide an alternate version of the story, with facts.

15%..........so airforce work was 15% ok? they are still bombing in orkzai and kurram cleared by army so army lied because even 15% wasn,t achieved........

Pockets of resistance still remain, that's the thing about an insurgency it just doesn't end after the parties agree to halt hostilities like in a conventional war. The Taliban still have small concentrations that operate in those areas and when need be, their positions are targeted by the air force.

no answer about targeting leadership in populations e.g sararogha, makeen etc?????????
you said it yourself there are leaders hiding in population being targeted by drones, same can be said of ttp, were they targeted???? if yes then what about collateral damage????

Already addressed.

example of PAF hitting..........are you joking......sararogha, makeen, ladha, orkzai and there are many more

Source that shows that the PAF bombed a POPULATED area.

missing persons............my dear in this case sc ordered agencies to produce the accused but order was defied..........result ISI is above the law you didn't answer even a single concern?

This leverage is allowed to the Intelligence agencies by the constitution and the government. The ISI is operating within it's defined parameters. Remember when the court insisted and Sufi Mohammad was produced before the KPK HC, the convoy was ambushed and two of Sufi Mohammad's commanders were killed to stop them from giving testimony against the Taliban. The attackers also tried to take Sufi Mohammad but fortunately the Police was able to resist the attackers. That's why terror suspects are not produced before the court, at least not declared to.

torture..............simply agencies are granted carte blanche to use whatever means to extract information correct me if i m wrong...

The information helps protect innocents from all sorts of damage. So necessary means are used to extract the information.

all agencies around the world use torture.......it proves my point........difference between cia and isi???????

That would be a very poor way to prove your point. They are two separate entities with divergent interests and concerns.
As for the use of torture, that is a global Modus Operandi when all else fails. It's not the first step in intel extraction, it is the last.
First is temptation, then intimidation, then deprivation and then if all else fails comes torture.
Usually however, subjects break at step 2.

military tribunal...............has it been constituted?????
A military tribunal and a military commission were established within the first week of the Parade Lane Incident to find out what went wrong, who was involved and bring the guilty to justice.

dr afia..........just one question all numerous reports about afia capture from karachi are "reports"
published by "non bonafide" source or i think these reports were propaganda insued by talibans????
what about the account of her mother and sister????are they playing in taliban hands????

I can't say but are you saying that her husband isn't a good enough source ?
They were his children too that the woman took into the mouth of the devil along with herself, I would think he would be most concerned out of all relevant parties.

sorry i missed saleem shehzad............give me one single reason why i believe he was not killed by agencies??........one single reason

The murder was too crude, if you said the Bhutto brothers were killed by the agencies, I might have believed you but Saleem Shahzad's murder was too crude. And can you give me a single reason to believe that he WAS killed by the agencies ?

The statements of Jinnah seem to be not in tune with the present Constitution of Pakistan. The very fact that Pakistan is an Islamic Republic clears everything beyond any doubt that religion has a role to play in functioning of the state.

Other than the being the head of state, there is no position barred from non-Muslims in Pakistan. They can apply through special minority quotas in colleges, universities, government institutions and even the parliament or they can apply for a regular seat. If you ever get a chance to go to Wahga-Atari border, you will see at least 3 Sikh Rangers Officers on the Pakistani side. They are eligible to enjoy all services available to any other Muslim officer plus leniency in uniform restrictions in keeping with the tenets of Sikhism such as being allowed to wear a turban instead of the regimental beret, being allowed to wear a silver "karra" even though that will be considered a breach of discipline for a Muslim officer as well as a Kripan which would also be forbidden in uniform in a public place. We aren't a theocracy and neither do we look down upon our minorities. It's just that our reputation betrays us. 70 Coptic Christians die in Egypt and it just makes it to a ticker on the 9'o clock news. Terrorists kill 3 Sikhs in Pakistan and the whole world is crying foul. The Human Rights Organizations are at our throats, the Pope is issuing condolences, polls are being held on when Pakistan will become a failed state and fall into chaos like Somalia.
It's pretty much over-inflating a random occurrence. We do have problems and acknowledge that but the attitude of the world towards Pakistan doesn't help much.....

Please edit out the personal attack, let's keep it civil.

Chief of Army staff is another post that immediately comes to my mind. The very fact that one religion is chosen over other as state religion is also a big one.

1) Pakistan Army is a secular institution and there is no rule barring anyone, regardless of race or religion from reaching the top spot. A number of Christians are officers and a lot more are serving as enlisted men. A significant number have made it to Brigadier and above. Even now, Maj. Gen Noel Israel is an Orthodox Christian general in the Army.

2) The State religion means that the head of state will be a follower of that religion, and that's pretty much it. So that point has already been addressed.

Just for record, they were not innocent "civilians". The were policemen (as accepted by our government) killed by taliban who crossed the border from afghanistan (again, govt sources)

WoW , very good justification of mass murders ,
what you say if your family killed by TTP dogs like this and video uploaded on net ? have some shame before you support murders ...

sorry i missed saleem shehzad............give me one single reason why i believe he was not killed by agencies??........one single reason

My answer is for the benefit of all who are interested. Although these remarks are off topic but I will respond for once. (and I am also renaming the thread as well because the thread has been dragged into the discussion which doesn’t have anything to do with the conversation but with the over all war on terror ). But before I do
Lets me clear about one thing. Pakistan army is not selling its war with the TTP on the basis of religion or morality. They are duty and oath bound to defend the country against the internal and external threats where the normal law enforcement is helpless. Its responding to the request by the government to protect the state from these miscreants that have declared war on the state and want to conquer it and enforce their system of governance.

So bringing in missing people, the resulting destruction due to military operation and equating it with the deliberate bombing of public and private property is not only the waste of time but self defeating unless the idea is to simply chastise the military operation against the terrorists

If you want to question the morality and religious aspect of the war then point your questions to TTP its them who are selling it as a holyand Islamic war. Its them who justify the killing of civilians, looting, torture and murder of prisoners and mutilating the corpses as Islamic and if that’s not enough they have engaged in the worse war crimes of rape through forces marriages in some cases up to six times at one instance. But if do draw up that much courage then ask this question from safe distance because TTP doesn’t like questions that it cant answer and normally the questioner or objector looses his head from his shoulders. They beheaded the imam of a mosque in Sweat who only made a suggestion which they didn’t approve and the suggestion was to let the people evacuate and then deploy mines and booby traps for the advancing army to minimize the civilian casualties. He was beheaded and his body was hung with this head placed under his hanging feet.

Now coming to your question re Shehzad, I must help everyone by giving a background that lead to his death which will pretty much answer the question and make the stupidity of the people more evident who are blaming the security agencies.

He was allegedly working on a book and investigating a possible deal of prisoner swap between the government and TTP (so far so good). But wait for it, the deal was apparently opposed by the military, hence Saleem Shehzad was murdered by them? You what? I mean one can understand if the military wanted a secret deal with the militant to swap prisoners and not let any one specially the suspicious Americans know but why would the ISI or army would kill a journalist who actually is reporting something that shows that army doesn’t want to deal with the terrorist? Why the suspicion is not on the terrorists because exposing this story was definitely hindering their prisoner swap bid?

The other “proof” used against the ISI is also very lame. Apparently he was called in their main established office and briefed about a documents recovered from a captured terrorist where his name was listed as a future target. Now this meeting is used against the ISI as a “proof” that they were threatening him. Given his stature and sensitivity of his assignment, any law enforcement agency was supposed to warn the potential targets of the terrorist. But it seems in the case of ISI its damned that it warned him and would still had been damned had it “failed” to inform him about the potential dangers.

Dumping his body on the road side so that it can be later found and publicised for the rest of the world where everyone is craving for any piece to write against the ISI also seems to be an own goal and plain stupid. On one hand ISI is shown as a double dealing, evil genius and outsmarting the politicians, the USA and even the Taliban, yet on the other hand it is blamed for discarding the body in such a way that it cant go unnoticed. Stupid and smart at the same time, to me are two mutually exclusive attributes but not to the people who come up with such genius conclusions.

In 2010 alone 6 out of 10 deaths of the journalists were through suicide bombings and the rest were abductions and coming in the deliberate or cross fire while performing their duties does any one remember Denial Pearl and his execution? Do tell which one of his abductors and assailants was working for ISI? I am not interested in defending the ISI here but I cant ignore and look the other way when dim witted conclusions are made from partial and biased stories please continue to blame the ISI if it sails your boat but for a moment, just for a moment explain in 2 lines why you wont suspect the terrorists’ hand in the killing of the journalists like Saleem Shezad? After all he is the one who hampered their prisoner deal didn’t he? Or just for the heck of it? After all he was working for the infidel imperial west no?

Just for record, they were not innocent "civilians". The were policemen (as accepted by our government) killed by taliban who crossed the border from afghanistan (again, govt sources)

So you are justifying what the Talibans did ? These people were policemen thus its justified to have killed them ??

I hope you would be having the same justification when you or anyone among your family (father, mother, brothers, sisters or cousins etc etc) is killed in a bomb blast (accepted by TTP - Talibans - AQ). I heartily hope you will be having a justification rather then being angry / sad / sorrow.

Oh for God's sake!!! An infraction again!! Just from pointing out that the video didnt show civilian being killed but rather policemn. I never said if it's right (or wrong ).

Just because I don't believe a false propaganda, I am a bigot and a terrorist sympathizer...

Mod edit:
its because you have decided that if someone is a policeman or a solider he is no longer innocent and murdering him after making him a prisoner is a very laudable and Islamic thing to do.
you justify the killing of the civilians at the hands of TTP blasts and mosque attacks as a consequence of Army operation and you justify the killing of abducted soldiers at the hands of TTP because you agree with the TTP logic that these soldiers are sinners and infidels (not innocent). it makes you a bigot and a terrorist sympathiser. enjoy your freedom of speech in the comfort of your home. but your inclination and support is for all to see.

It doesn't matter if they are policemen, but you have been always supporting the TTP takfiris here and on siasat.pk

As I said before, almost everyone has lost someone close in this war, either on the front or in an act of terrorism. It might be difficult for you to understand but for us, it's in black and white. The TTP are the enemy and they must be eliminated for the continued survival of this country and the well-being of it's citizens.

also don't forget that many of the younger suicide bombers or would be SB, were so scared to blow themselves up even after mass brainwashing. ttp bastards had to give them drugs, hasheesh to get them high, show them vulgur pics to give the kids some idea of hoors to get them to blow themselves up. Many kids like that were apprehanded as the approach their target due to their terrible state of mind, being extremely high on drug and fear or death, they were easy to spot.

so all that talk of they're doing it cuz they believe in soemthing or they're doing for Islam etc is all bullcrap.
