With the arrival of the new government in Afghanistan, the regional spoiler India is at wits end as all its efforts to destabilize Pakistan have come to an end.

Pakistan should take this opportunity by launching a free trade, zero rated customs duty agreement with Afghanistan.

Historically, the two regions have been interlinked through religion, culture and mutual governance.

The two nations theory divided us from the Hindus. The one nation theory can unite us with the Afghans, if not in politics then in economy.

Afghanistan is a big market for Pakistani products from Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala. The demand for medicines and consumer products can revitalize our economy which is in dire straits due to Corona crisis.

The Indian sponsored port of Chahbahar will fail if we provide duty free access to the Afghan imports through Karachi and Gwadar. Pakistani transporters stand to gain a lot from the revitalization of the Afghan Trade.

Similarly, Pakistan is a market for fruits and dry fruits from Afghanistan. Dry fruits and Saffron can be exported from Afghanistan and well as hand made carpets.

Cannabis and Cannaboid Oil has been legalized in many states in the US and Europe and are used in medicines as well. We can give Chinese processing technology to the Afghans to export these legally to the West and earn foreign exchange.

Pakistani technical labour can go to Afghanistan to work in sectors which were performed by foreign workers during NATO times.

This free trade strategy will give a boost to the economy of both the countries in these financially troubled times. Other neighboring Central Asian States , Iran and Turkey can also be invited to join under RCD.
