Cryogenic rocket engine : India

Sometimes i feel "faithfulguy" is a machine or a spam who can type only one thing.." Buy from USA" .. I bet 99% posts of this guy are promotion of usa and that too in pathetic way. Do this guy has any real life or he's just in sales and promotion??

You may consider him spam but he says truth and is faithful Guy. Even if GSLV 3 becomes successful, it doesn't next launch also be successful. We need to have contingency plan and need to procure atleast 4-5 cryogenic engine from Russia or probably Japan. This time we can choose Japan so that we can check their designs also.

It take time to fully develop something such as a cryogenic engine and its definitely wise to have a contingency plan. To not prepare for all scenario is bad planning.

Dont worry India will have a working cryo stage in coming 2 years. Till then, we can use Ariane 5 services.

I don't think we'd need one. Although I agree we may not be perfect with our current cryo engines, in this country having a contingency leads to a very large slow down in indigenous development. We need the pressure to work quickly and efficiently. After all, if we want to be a space power, we should aim for perfection.

First of all we have the technology of cryo. It has been already developed. May be you are forgetting the failure of last test was after the launch, not before. We still have some cryo engines left which were bough from Russia. Meanwhile they will do the job. To have successful moon mission and further exploration of universe, we mush have matured cryo tech. Well its matter of next launch that the advocates of "buy from outside" will sit in corner. As the last test got failed, i don't see the scientists will take any chance in upcoming. And one more thing, BE POSITIVE

Both China and India have a long way to go. China's powerful engine is around 650kn, while the U.S has over 2000kn. Without large rocket it won't be possible to send heavier and more sophisticated equipment to the space. The CE20 has 200kn thrust, and is still in development. The CE7.5 hasn't had a flight yet.

Hey China's most powerful cryogenic engine is YF-75 which has 78.5x2 kN thrusts. India's CUS12 has 82 kN thrusts.

The engine may be cost effective due to being home made.But its an inefficient open loop engine design.

Only slightly less efficient but far more efficient compared to other propellants.

India is developing both complex staged cycle (for GSLV MK2) and slightly less efficient but simpler gas generator cycle (for LVM3-X). Only Russia so far has been successfully using staged cycle engines. USA, France and China mostly use gas generator cycle cryo-engines because of its simple design.

don't compare. india has nothing. yf-75 has been in service for 20 years and is only 1/2 the size of supa indian cryo engine with similar thrusts that is still in development. it's amusing some of you guys above talking about efficiency here :lol:

There are gas turbine driven high pressure pumps for fuel injection mounted on top of rocket engine..Part of the fuel is diverted to gas generator which in turn creates high pressure gas for turning the turbine pumps ..This gas is then vented into atmosphere...Thats an open loop.

In closed loop the gas after turning the gas turbine pumps is re-injected into main engine combustion chamber.It being hot and under pressure,helps in ignition and in increasing combustion chamber pressure,resulting in higher exaust pressure and more efficiency compared to an open loop engine.

Here is the "Close loop" Russin Design..No gas is vented and is re injected into combustion chamber,so no exhaust is there...

What r ur views about the underdevelopment 600kn CE-60, do u think it'll be a closed loop engine n what amount of payload do u expect it to carry???

N is it true that only Russia has been able to develop closed loop engine as stated by another Indian member???:what:

In Thermodynamics is there is concept that work output,any machine operating in closed reversibile cycle is maximam.However in real world no system is completely reversible,so the best we can do is to make cycle irreversibile and closed.This cycle is closed by reinjecting exhaust gases back into combustion chamber.

or simply,engery output in GT engines largely depends upon temperature of combustion chamber(it's proportional to it),in closed cycles hot exhaust gas are vented into combustion chamber increasing thrust output,
