Chitral attack supported by NATO

Chitral-- Eye witnesses to the attack by militants on Pakistani border security posts at Arandu on Saturday, killing over three dozen soldiers, say they saw NATO helicopters and drones giving cover to the attackers. Some local persons also claimed that they heard heavy shelling and bombardment by NATO fighter planes, and helicopters on the posts of Chitral Scouts. Besides it NATO fighter planes and Gunship helicopters were flying over Pakistani air space at the time of the attack.

An officer of the district administration on condition of anonymity told this scribe that they had formally informed the government about the witnessed involvement of Afghan and NATO forces in the border attack. Meanwhile there is a feeling of remorse in the people of Chitral about the government not giving enough importance to the loss of lives of Chitrali soldiers and no high functionary of the government visited Chitral to condole with the families of the martyred soldiers.--GH Farooqi, 30 Aug 2011.

Chitralis condemn cross border attacks

Chitral- -- A pal of gloom has descended on Chitral after hearing about militant rebels from Afghanistan attacking Chitral's border posts inflicting heavy casualty on the paramilitary deployed there. The feeling of insecurity seems writ large on the faces of peace loving Chitralis who have historically never been associated with violence and armed armed aggression.

The question every Chitrali asks is that are our borders so vulnerable so as to be marauded by armed insurgents over-powering the regular militia on duty there, or is there more to it than than meets the eye?. Knowledgeable sources say that powerful anti Pakistan forces are behind the insurgents who single handedly would not dare such audacious move against an established army.

The most agonising aspect of the tragic episode is that both sides i.e. the attacking militants and the defending Chitral Scouts soldiers were chanting "Allah Akbar" (God is great) while killing each other. This is the very point which needs to be focused on. If the militants have been misled to believe that they were fighting a holy war against the Pakistani armed forces, then the problem stands identified and efforts should be made to remove this fatal misconception and clear their minds.

The enemies of Pakistan have launched a psychological war against the country which is more dangerous than the traditional physical conflict. Pakistan needs to get its act correct and not blindly rely on force to try curb an ideology; instead it needs to aggressively employ psychological methodology to put those who have gone on the path of animosity back on the path of tolerance and coexistence. For this, justice, fairplay, meritocracy and rule of law in the society are prerequisites, perhaps!. -- 'CN report', 29 Aug 2011

OK that's serious. Someone either from military or this pathetic govt should do something about it.

It will have to be the military, as we can't expect anything from the government. Has any federal minister even visited forward troops?

What about sending PAF Boys, It will be a good target practice zone..........

Our Army is flexible enough to keep an eye on both threats to our nation.

You mean to say two front war?

Of course if ISAF forces can't fulfill their duties in Afghanistan then it doesn't means Pakistan should not think over security of area. It’s pretty clear that these kinds of attacks couldn't be launched without prior permission of US/NATO & Afghan government. We have to secure our boundaries and we should take every measure to do that.

They too also think the same way...

No he wants to say two front guard. Is that difficult to understand.

They too also think the same way...

But what happened a few days ago in Chitral tells us otherwise. What happened on ground is more important than someone's thinking.

I also believe the same. Their are two squadrons of JFT in Peshawar. Why not use them when they enter our territory and attack our soldiers.

Why would they get provoked. We would be attacking and killing terrorists who are invading our territory. What's wrong with that. As NATO says Taliban is it's enemies too.

Humm I know. Witnessing it for last 10 years but still if someone is going to attack our soldiers then we would retaliate. And nobody should whine like last time that rockets fell on the civilians and all that.

So why hasn't the PA done this thus far? Oh yeah, I know already. Relocating troops from the East (against India) is not possible because India may attack Pakistan any time! :P And India is a far greater threat than some wily old band of Talibs, never mind if they are killing Pak troops everyday by the dozen.

How many Pak troops killed so far by the TTP? About 3000? How many killed by India in the same period? Nil. But India is a far greater threat than the TTP, right? Jeeeez! :azn:

Bull's Eye....
That's Y I said there there should be a review of threat perception in GHQ...or...
It will be pakistan which will ...."bleed to death by thousand cuts "...
This was the principle on which pakistan wanted to confront IA......now they find at the receiving end of their own theory...:undecided:
.............Mia ki jooti... Mia ke sar...:azn:

First of all it isn't daily that they attack our soldiers and kill them daily. Don't exaggerate please. You are not the marketing manager of TTP, so don't exaggerate. And you have also lost more than 80 soldiers against Maoists in a day.

And how many soldiers and civilians Maoists have killed? Around 1000 casualties just last year. How many killed by PA?

Wrong threat perception indeed. First act yourself instead of giving pathetic advices to others.

Same answer for other guy Tangent.

Any explanation of use of heavy arms from Afghan side?

We understand the inaction from Ghadari govt. but why is ISPR quite on this? They should open the reality to public.

Surely, Pakistan need attack helicopters, drones and night vision googles.

It is clear that there is a combine pressure from US (openly) and India (covertly) to remove some forces from southern border, which hints some plan is in offing.

Pakistanis shall immediately block the transit aid to india, afghanistan and block all unwanted air traffic over its air.
