CPEC the foremost Priority
CPEC is the foremost priority of the government. The government decision about the CPEC that there will be one authority which will resolve all the problems and queries regarding CPEC and that authority will be the PRIME MINISTER office. The decision came day after the visit of PM Khan from his China visit. During which he met the Chinese president and other business community and the discussion might have gone there would be the economy of Pakistan and CPEC, would be the priority of all topics that were scheduled to be discussed in the PM visit with Chinese delegations.
CPEC is a development project which aims to connect Gawadar port in south western Pakistan to China,s north western region. The entire project costs are estimated as $46 billion that will be completed in several years. In the Pakistani society it is believing that it will be a game changer not only for Pakistan economy and unemployment but also to the Central Asia, South Asia and middle east countries.
Due to the significance of the project and the challenges to this project PM Khan the government of Pakistan decided about the one authority that is the PM office which will look after the mega project. This shows the seriousness of the government and the guarantee to the investors for their investment in this project. Its a good sign of developing the trust as well as interest of the investors. The PM Khan decision was warmly welcomed by the business community and Pakistan’s society and was highly appreciated by social media user on different platforms. One of social media user named Ali Raza narrates in his comments saying “turn the wheel to right direction and need to take up the pace and move swiftly towards our decision”. Another social media users named Azeem Hussain commented that “ make the project an exemplary to gain back confidence of investors”.
The regional environment that could directly affect the mega project and a major issue regarding the regional stability is the tense situations and long lasting war of words between Saudi Arabia and Iran, PM khan is very much concerned with this tense situations among the two Muslim countries that increase in such tensions may affect the trade and economy of most of the countries whom uses the Persian gulf for their international trade. So, looking forward for peace talks and dialogue between the two countries PM Khan visited both the countries and met the leadership of the two countries and argued them for table talk because regional stability is necessary for any economy to be stable. As both the countries are keen to join CPEC projects and so many projects of these countries are going on in Pakistan. Such as the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project which is being postponed by the Pakistan government due to American sanctions against Iran. And several developments projects led by the Saudi government is going on in Pakistan. In such situations PM khan is playing its role to ease the tension between the two Muslim countries in order to make the region stable and create favorable environment for investors.
As CPEC is pivotal to Pakistan's economic development and regional stability. Such decision is a great gesture of commitment towards the project as well as the prosperity of the nation.
