What's new

Country needs $82.5-bn investment in power to be developed one’

Beside the 60000 MW Bangladesh has plan to import electricity from Nepal and Bhutan.

Well then the minister should have given a per capita kwH consumption that is being aimed for (like Homo sort of attempted to do poorly).

You are going to be importing more and more from India compared to Nepal and Bhutan in the current trends. Importing is only so feasible for a large population country given you are dependent on surplus capacities being developed in the other countries.

There are number of countries like Poland, Uruguay, Lebanon, Mexico etc.

Poland:

36 GW

38 mil

14,000 USD

Uruguay

3 GW

3.4 mil

17,000 USD

Lebanon

3 GW

6 million

8250 USD

Mexico

63 GW

128 million

8400 USD

=====================

The ratios are all very different. Closest is Mexico but even that is far from the ratio proposed for "developed" BD given your population will be near 200 million and Mexico is well below (a full third lower) than the 12,000 GDP per capita you propose as some magic threshold of "developed" status.

Not to mention that 12,000 GDP per capita (or any threshold you choose today) is not going to be valid for 2041....the standards/percentiles evolve.

Available Electricity will be around 60 GW. But installed capacity will be around 100 GW. Right now 16 GW is installed but available is only 10 GW.

Now you are putting words in the ministers mouth to try make it look better. It's a frigging 2041 fartsy projection to begin with lol. BD power addition so far is not inspiring at all (even with the improvement over before), why are things expected to improve by magnitudes sustainably?

If we assume that, to just enter the developed country status(12735 dollar) we need half of what Hong Kong consume,

"We need just half"

According to? You?

You understand a developed city with high services component (and massive multi year accumulated power integral unlike a ramping developing country) in economy is far far different energy/GDP ratio to a large population country?

Just look at China (4000 kwH per capita, 10k per capita) compared to Hong Kong (6000 kwH per capita, 50k per capita) for example regarding their energy/GDP ratios before you open your retard mouth again.

BD is going to go from paddy + RMG to high service throughfare with no concrete industrialisation and manufacturing in the interim? Erm ok.

@Skies @bluesky @Centaur

So what the minister said is not absurd in anyway.

Yeah saying BD will be developed in 2041 on a GDP /energy per capita target that HAS never been achieved by any country so far....AND that the whole world will stagnate in developed level threshold for BD to catch up....is not absurd at all.

First make sure you actually graduate from LDC first (3 year holding period remember) before doing you stupid retard dreams.

Some years ago I heard some people talking BD is already half developed as Japan. How? The answer was: it is because some of the buildings in BD are half as tall as the Japanese ones.

LOL.

@bluesky is very much close to neutral poster.

@bluesky is an incoherent and highly confused poster.

He changes his mind from BD economic growth is false to BD will surpass India in economic development.

At least @Nilgiri is semi-coherent and by in large and sticks to his butt-hurt attacks at BD.

@bluesky is an incoherent and highly confused poster.

I think he (@bluesky) criticizes things equally, that is why his posts are bound to contradict.

For example:

If I be unbiased and criticize and praise both BAL and BNP equally, you will be confused.

Makes sense?

His (@bluesky) post needs to be seen very objectively.

This is a sign of incoherence and someone not be be taking seriously.

Anyway you are not smart enough to be debating about topics like these anyway.

Yup @bluesky is actually pretty credible and consistent poster here overall. Generally its an inversely proportional thing to UKbengali opinion of a person :D

bluesky for example (and @Centaur , @Mage to some degree too and few others) inherently get the stupid propaganda optics of BAL. They may be more akin to believe in the social development side of things compared to me (given they are more connected to BD in more ways, finger to the wind etc) but they are more tuned to the cold hard economic reality wont indulge in the fartsy projections that much. They want to see full proof of the rooms cleaned up, one by one first before dreaming of turning the hovel into a hotel....while of course being supportive of what they have perceived as happened/happening already with proof that meets their standards. It is quite fair....elite/govt feet must be held to the fire as much as possible....rather than get lost in that elite/govt own appraisal and projections (as though they have 0 vested interest and bias in such).

No doubt lots of corruption is happening under Awamileague government but lots of development is happening as well. Unless you are blind you should see it. Hope you will stop your paranoia.
Indeed lots of development happening no doubt. But also BAL is exaggerating too in higher degree. This is the reality of Bangladesh now. So we all should have this honesty to call black is black and white is white, instead of sycophancy.
In the end, we all belong to Bangladesh, not to BAL or BNP.
And also our ministers should be more consistent when they are giving some statement.

@UKBengali bhai - I have to agree. ;-)

We have all suffered incoherence from time-to-time. :-)

Stupid Gadha, when did I say such a thing? Why are you such a blind not to see the level of India's industrial development? India is already two hundred years ahead of us. This is why Indian TATA is coming to BD and not the UKBengali Company from your Shonar Bangla going to India. How can you expect BD to surpass India when Indians can build their own long bridges, barrages, dams, chemical factories, steel mills, tunnels, power stations, railway coaches, goods trains and hundred others, whereas blind Shonar Bangla people like you cannot do anything.

At least produce steel NAILS in BD that do not bend at the first strike of a hammer and talk big, you disillusioned stupid and then compare with India. BD imports all its good quality nails from China and India. With this level of industrial macho and your kind of COHERENT genius there is no doubt BD will surpass India and will become a developed country by 2041 or before.

A person should have a minimum intelligence to know what westerners did in five hundred years and India has been doing for the last one hundred years (since during British time) cannot be done by the BD people when the majority of people here are just a bunch of dumb fools like you are. Fools like you cannot even produce a lathe machine. So, how can you or your super human @Black_cats can claim so many things can be done in the next 23 years? Talking big does not make a nation big. But, you guys are just a pair of drunk talkers.

Spoon feed this to @UKBengali and @Black_cats. I hope, they will gradually come to understand what is the function of industrialization and manufacturing, which is almost absent in BD. These guys think BD will import all the technologies (ToT) from foreign countries and manufacture the consumer products. They do not say, however, how BD will finance a trillion dollar worth of ToT. But, again, can a kindergarten pupil understand what is a Ph.D thesis?

Thing is, what other countries can do, may not be imitated by BD. Moreover, 1960-85 was only a high growth period in South Korea during which its economy matured. S. Korea prepared itself for an economic take off by the Japanese policy itself, although the latter was a colonial power. Japan introduced a mass education for all Koreans, built many factories and manufacturing plants that gave Korea a great push forward.

Note the chart above. It shows South Korea began developing since at least 1911, when it was under Japanese colonialism. The economy went down in 1943 due to WWll. It was already quite a bit developed when Japan left in 1945.

Instead of comparing ourselves with south, we should compare with north Korea, which has not developed as the south. India can be somewhat be compared with south Korea, though the former remains far behind (a legacy of British colonialism) the development of south Korea.

BD ministers do not probably understand the difference between an underdeveloped country (BD is now underdeveloped), a developing country (which is India) and a developed country (German, Japan and many European countries). So. probably they find it difficult to correctly use the appropriate words.

Hasina was the first to say a develop country by 2041, and every minister is following her verse as if it is from Bible. She once wanted to produce power from Haor and Baor. She probably thought since the term is hydro-electric and the Haors have much water (hydro), so, power can be produced there.

Well, then we will probably never see a developed BD..........

People need to change their mindset...work hard..and be honest...work ethics of BD people sucks in general...
