Could Pakistan rival India's Bollywood?

In Japan Rajnikant Movies are very popular.
In South Africa - Akshay kimar rocks,
Sunny Deol is very popular in Canada.
recently Amirkhan's movies like Three Idiots and P K were hit in China.
Sharukh is very popular in Malaysia Indonesia etc.

.
To be fair before the discussion of Waar movie in PDF i never knew or heard about Pak fiml industry

.
bollywood sucks, how about rivaling the space program or something ?

. .
I think you cannot be a rival to bollywood for a decade atleast........Bollywood has become todays bollywood over several decades..........And Indian film industry is not only bollywood, but several other woods.. tollywood, mollywoods....... There are several great movies are made in regional languages, some of them get are made in bollywood too......

If you make good movies people will watch.......and that should be the aim.....

Banning is against the right of freedom. And we like bollywood movies.
Cinemas also get lot of profit due to bollywood & Hollywood.

LOL. Is this a joke or somethink??? You are comparing Bollywood with Pakistan film industry?? ..LOL. It is like comparing Kenya with US. Bollywood is huge than even Hollywood.

.
People should understand that if you want to be a leader in any field (Like Bollywood today) , you will have to build your strength brick by brick. There is a huge contribution of people in putting the Bollywood where it is today. You need dedicated directors, actors, singers, musicians. This can not be done in overnight. If Pakistan want to develop like Bollywood, they need a very long term consistent dedicated effort in this direction. To hope that lollywood shall be able to compete with Bollywood in near future is simply the too much of optimism.

Namely? I did watch Dhoom 3 last year and was awestruck. Couldn't have gotten any worse.
Might see PK some time soon I guess.

Horror's not Ram Gopal's forte but his Crime movies aren't bad to be honest.
Way better than your usual Bollywood movie at least. Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Company,
Satya are comparatively way better.

Sure, Bollywood's maturing. Bollywood, however, shouldn't be the benchmark for 'Lolly', as far as I'm concerned.
apart from satya(which I think was brilliant) I have not watched any other movie from RGV you listed. He was a talented director but sold his soul for money. Surely its commercial movie industry so, box office collection is the only criteria to judge but am not sure it gives him any creative satisfaction.
Only mainstream bollywood director I watch now is Anurag Kashyap. He has successfully bridged the art and commertial cinema, and makes movies that make money, but also have artistic value.

Other than him, I mostly watch indie movies, look for a guy named Rajat kapoor, he is our woody allen, kind of. @Winchester

Bheja Fry was excellent...didn't know his name back then !

I have to agree with it most of Bollywood movies are shit
Hahahahhaha

Bollywood is total sh1t who would want to rival a bs industry brimming with all form of imaginable and unimaginable filth.

If we really want our industry to find some foothold, just make few but good quality movies. Most importantly teach teach teach ur actors gooooood acting and train to emote well.<-------- in this regard they can get my help. *flicks hair behind total guy's style

Me no likes all that dancing naching and opulent sets and too much color splash which totally overrides any susbtance,if any, present in the movie and takes away from its theme.

Ur industry itself is hiring pakistani actors to inject zest into it.
Chettan u know nothing, we dont need to go ot the level of bollywood, from what i have learnt in past few months is that , bollywood or indian film industry in 60s 70s 80s has very much survived on constantly stealing Pakistani urdu movie industry's songs, music ,storyline. We were always eons ahead of bolly in terms of quality.

Not long ago i watched an indian film tumbin , the movie had completely taken scenes and copied characters from pakistani super dooper hit classic drama tanhaiyyan.

Maybe, but to have one of the worst movie industries on the planet as your benchmark i.e. Bollywood, then you may as well give up.
The way i laughed at this.

Bhai, i think you should remove this prejudice you are carrying (at least when you converse with me).......

I am not a movie expert, ( i dono how did you come to a conclusion on what i know or what i dont know ) May be you know things better than me..... But then that is not the point.

Well Hiring Pakistani actors is one thing, but making a movie is totally a different thing..... If they are hired, then i am sure that they are good at it.....

Now the level of Bollywood, ( I am not a fan of bollywood and i watch only the highly rated movies,- My last one was PK) No one is asking to go to the level of bollywood, But the point i was making is, it is not easy to come to the level in terms of money, publicity, and brand...... I am not saying they should match the level of bollywood interms of script of quality of the movie....

Yes there are script writers who copy scenes, copy entire movie, copy the story..... But then few of such movies doesnt make an industry a bad one as a whole.....

If you think Pakistani movies are ahead in terms of quality then Congratulations..........

But let me remind you, the word "Quality" in a cinema is a relative term......

From Karachi to New York: Here's what Mahira wore to Bin Roye premieres

KARACHI: We are not sure whether or not Bin Roye will live up to the audience’s expectations, but what we do know is that Mahira Khan has definitely lived up to her inimitable style statement.

Karachi

Mahira opted for a minimalist look by sporting a Muse outfit. The white sleeveless top and a conventional black and white gharara looked absolutely unconventional as the style icon paired it up with a golden belt. Jewellery by Outhouse is the latest talk of the town and the VJ-turned-actor has absolutely sworn by these statement pieces. She wore ear cuffs and palm rings that you can’t miss. As elegant as ever, Mahira effortlessly carried a center-parted hairdo and wore a simple liner with bold red lips.

Dubai

When we saw Élan featuring this outfit at PFDC Swarovski Crystal Couturiers showcase earlier this year, we had easily guessed that none other than Mahira would do justice to it. Originally paired with a skirt, she added her distinctive touch by pairing it up with cigarette pants. From the pale taupe outfit encrusted with embellishments, to the studded silver strap belting the duppata andthe matte silver stiletto to the pearl earrings, everything exuded grace. Her side swept loose curls, nude eyes, bold coral lips and a perfect contour were to the point.

New York

Mahira was spotted wearing a Feeha Jamshed ensemble at the New York premiere of Bin Roye. She looked absolutely chic in heavily-embellished beige crop top paired with pleated skirt embroidered with floral patterns.

No bahi its not prejudice. If u are talking abt industry size, value and worth ,then i dont think so thats happening anytime soon nor i see it to be required as well. U see yours and ours population size difference.

As of copying, honestly when i learnt abt how classic pakistani movies were shamelessly copied and their songs stolen for so many indian movies i felt too annoyed. See we have copy cats too, karan johar copied it from west and pakistani tv channels have tons of such copy cat extremely boring shows. Irks one to no end, talking abt pakistani side here.
Nothing could beat origiality. Secondly, i thought us pakistanis shud also know that in past how well performing our industry was.
