Could J-15 fit in as a AS Fighter for Admiral Goshkov Carrier

Although many would have a problem with this thread, I just wanna see and discuss the possiblity of something like this happening.

Since J 15 doesn't exist as of now, and the ambiguity that always surrounds Chinese programs anyways, we cannot conclusively say anything......
However, given the face that J 15 is derived from J 11, which itself is an upgraded derivative of Su-27, J 15's specs may be similiar to that of Su-33, the naval version of Su-27.
If this indeed is the case, then J 15 will be able to fit on the carrier but their max numbers would only be around 15 or so......

No, IN evaluated using a naval MKI as well, just like using Rafale or F18SH, but for such a heavy fighter, the take off distance would be too low.

Wrong there are many videos and pics of J-15 but the problem is validity of the plane landing in the AC. It does have ASEA radar which makes it superior to Su-33 in BVR hence its a bigger upgrade of SU-27 like F-15 to F-15K or F-15I R'aad. For Loanining ex Varyang it could fit in as many as 30-35. But for Goshkov it would be 15.

We have already decided for Mig 29Ks and N-LCAs, but if Rafale will be selected for INs future carriers, it could be operated from all Indian carriers, which is an advantage.

As IAC-1 has been pushed back to 2018. And IAC-2 which we are talking isn't goings to come before 2020 minimum. By that time we might have naval-AMCA atleast in prototype. So I think Indian navy will buy more Migs as a stop gap measure than going for expensive Rafales

Geo Politics evolves over time, India is a big market and China is keen to develop its exports defense market - who knows there could be a day when China turns out to be one of India's defense suppliers.

Chill buddy, he just asked a question and it might have more to do with the size of the fighter, than it's origin. When he had asked about Su 33 instead of J15, the answers would be the same, but people wouldn't see something suspicious behind it isn't it?

But the time to develop a prototype to be mature and capable enough to be used on a carrier must be bridged and since the Migs can't take off from CATOBAR carriers, only Rafale, F18SH and F35C will be possible solutions. Although I prefer the Rafale, in this case I see more chances for the Super Hornet.

ADMIRAL goshkov aka INS Vikramaditya can host Chinese copy of SU-33 aka J-15.
Point should be is it possible or not. Point should be " Will it serve the purpose of ACC with say 15 numbers of A/C ??? " answer is plane no.


I think J-15 wouldn't be a good choice for PLAN too to start with carrier operations. They should have started with small/medium plane. And then should have gone for big one

The presumption of the question of this thread is flawed. The Indian navy is not desperately looking for new aircrafts to land on the gorshkov. In fact, the new aircrafts we already have are looking to get a carrier to land on and take off from.
