but old depictions of gypsies from middle ages (16th century) show them as same people they are today. why they didnt mixed in 400 years out of existence from 1600ts onward, when they mixed so much before? why they didnt continued tradition of race mixing but once they reached pseudo-southasian looks they stoped mixing?

i think its non-sense, i think gypsies always looked like they do. most gypsy guys will mary a gypsy girl and always did, they survived their phenotype by hiding in the woods and being persecuted no time for race-mixing. they absorbed some europeans most probably but lets say it makes every gypsy around 1/16 european thats not enough to make him look significantly different and there are always some lighter gypsies among us. with light hair even and pale skin.
