Cost of war on Terror for Pakistan "overestimated"

When your closest neighbour is at full war, you can not have a good economy, the fact of the proximity of the war zone alone scares off any potential investor.
Even a 100 billion in losses (over a decade) is credible due to the economic consequences of a decade long war in Afghanistan and its extension inside Pakistan called WoT.
Who exactly knows how Pakistan would have done economically if there were no WAR and no WoT, with an economy on high gear; with no energy crisis and a lot of foreign investments.
I am sure it would have done better than India witch made some money to buy weapons by profiteering from these conspirational circumstances.

yes to every thing above and that pigs can fly too. heh.

It's apologist or enablers like you that ensure Pakistan's gloomy future . " If we close our eyes, hide our heads in the sand and just blame it on everyone else and conspiracy - it will get better"

There isn't one particular or peculiar problem, but a multitude of them, and when they gang up, then it's trouble.
Or are these all symptoms of a growing sharia mentality in government and society?

very right dude and I would like to add this that pakistan is in list of warzones countries that means all the commercial cargo that is shipped in and out via sea and air is to be charged extra for the insurance reasons.Though many pointed there is no war in pak but still our friends in west have implictaed such things on us.But yes corruption remains a factor. Our disability to root out foreign supported militancy in balochistan so that we can utilize vast resources of crude oil, copper and gold is indeed shameful but for how long? Guys who are using this thread to bash pakistan have no idea about its potential whole of central asia is locked and depends on us.pakistan has world's 4th largest oil reserves and massive gold, copper and coal reserves which are unfortunately untapped till now but this new generation of Pak who can clearly see how pakistan is being manipulated on world's stage and how we are made to serve the sinister causes of capitalists by these corrupt good for nothing leaders and its this new generation of 21st century that will bring Pak to its honorable place and yu guys can see the changing directions..Could anybody have imagined pakistan stopping us supplies for 6 months despite all their threats and all ..Do yu think zardari and co has the balls to do so its just internal pressure and we need to synchronize that internal youth pressure to forsee not only our foreign policy but our development projects as well...
And yes yu guys talk abt 60 billion dollars a huge figure ..Pakistan receives annually 15 billion dollar in remittances from overseas pakistani's and for such a country a amount of 60 billion in a decade isnt that huge...

then i ask finance minister why are they now targetting heavy levy for nato supply transit

i will wait for an answer

This whole cost of war on Terror is BS and they made this up to feed the common man of Pakistan and rest of the world with false impression of WoT and to show themselves as victims of super power bullying just like the strategy they used shamelessly after Mumbai attacks. They were fine with WoT until OBL raid, after which they no longer could play the game and get the Military and Humanitarian aid and defense equipment.

After Mumbai Attacks "Pakistan is a victim of terrorism and non state actors are carrying out the Terrorist attacks"

After OBL raid and Kabul Attacks "Pakistan is a victim of terrorism and war on Terror (hurt economy) and non state actors provided Osama Bin Laden(Al qaeda) and Haqqani network the safe havens" Apart from Mullah Omar, Taliban leaders, Al zawahari .

Beyond the point of redemption i say.

and indians only believed pakistanis to be conspiracy theorist??

the fact remains pakistan economic survey generated the loss figures not some bhindis across the border

The incumbent government had added the special chapter in the economic survey hoping it would help convince international players to pour more aid. Aid, however, was not forthcoming, primarily due to strained ties between Pakistan and the United States.

if its another brain fart and random speculation coming from tribune bloggers then we all care less

the fact is

According to last year’s economic survey, Pakistan has suffered almost $68 billion in cumulative losses over the past decade due to the ongoing war on terrorism.

"Independent experts, however, say the biggest reason for falling investment is the chronic and worsening energy crisis that kept foreign investors at bay."

The problem isn't the "War on Terror" but the lack of a "War on Error" - bad and immoral governance, of which terrorism is only a part.

the jew blames 'our immoral governance' yet its the same immoral government generating some pathetic statement, ill wait for other sources except tribune bloggers to authenticate the statement

the figures werent generated by our immoral government but organisation called pakistan economic survey

You should come up with better arguments, your post is very poor intellectually and irrationally subjective, please do some effort not to be too ambiguous.

Yes 35000 deaths of civilians is not a loss at all. Those smily in thread start shows for what purpose this thread is started.
