RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders of Pakistan’s military has organised a significantly important session in Rawalpindi on Tuesday and expressed displeasure over defence minister Khawaja Asif’s statement, reports said.

Corps Commanders Conference held at General Headquarters today while the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired the conference.

The forum undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing external and internal security situation specially along the Western border, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The issue of drawdown of ISAF from Afghanistan with its concomitant implications on the security situation along the bordering region was also discussed.

COAS commended the efforts despite serious security and administrative challenges.

Corps commanders expressed reservations over criticism being made over Pakistan’s military especially by two senior lawmakers, local news channel said.

The expression of displeasure came forward after the defence minister Khawaja Asif and senator cum federal information minister Pervaiz Rasheed, who were seen defending the supremacy of parliament of Pakistan.

The participants added that military personnels and officers have concerns over criticism on Pakistan Army.

COAS General Raheel Sharif would make the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif aware about the military’s reservations after his return from visit to China.

Ongoing dialogues’ procedure with Taliban also discussed in the high-level military meeting; questions has been raised over prisoners’ release by Pakistani government without military’s consultation while some suggestions would be conveyed to the federal authorities.

The high-level officials clarified that there are no women, children and non-combatant prisoners present in military’s custody, reports said.

Corps commanders rejected the possibilities of making ‘Peace Zone’ demanded by the militant organisation, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

COAS General Raheel Sharif appreciated own troops for additional security measures along Pak-Afghan Border to assist our Afghan brethren in conduct of smooth Presidential Elections.

The forum also comprehensively reviewed Pak Army’s large scale involvement on security, development and rehabilitation works in various parts of the country.

Had they expressed 'displeasure' in some other country in the world, they would be fired instantly. There is no doubt, these people continue to be a thorn in our side. They want to ensure they remain 'untouchables'

Would have been better if this issue was sorted out privately..

These faujis should remember that they are the sub-ordinates, not the masters. If they break this discipline, they are nothing better than thugs and goon in clean clothes and a disgrace to their nation and uniform.

You know these army generals consider themselves as superior to everybody else in pakistan. I do not understand what is their thick head which makes them so retard. They are sucking the blood of this poor nation since last 70 years and yet do not feel even 1 gram of shame over their dirty corrupt activities. They should understand that pakistan has changed, they do not have any importance in ordinary citizen's heart, these haramkhor corrupt generals have lost the respect of this nation 15 years ago.

No it is british left over imperial army generals who are biggest sag and haramkhor in pakistan. Everybody knows it except the kids with army background.

The Army has been in power more than half of Pakistan's existence, yet their policies that you see today remain as they were. Every year, they recieve a figure of defence budget, perhaps more than Health and Education budgets combined, yet they are unable to win Wars and Disputes. They also receive Tons of Aid from Foreign Countries and you can thank them for sponsoring mercenary culture . I'm surprised no one points fingers at them. How can a General such as Musharraf go from Rs. 60,000 pension to a net worth of multi billion dollars ? How can Pasha become a Minister in UAE ? The fact of the matter is, they are all corrupt as ****. You can never make them happy. Its a complete brotherhood which functions separate from the state. Once for all, the Government and Supreme Court of Pakistan should waste no time to hang their former Generals by their balls. They need to develop fear in that institution.

Hi,

The defence minister don't have a pot to piss in----. In pakistan there will not be a seperation between the military and the politicians till the politicians learn to do their jobs better.

The Government of Pakistan is elected by the people of Pakistan and they have the right to make policies. The Army should not meddle in political affairs, otherwise, the notion that Army is 'disciplined' would be farce.

I love the Pakistani army but Pakistan is a democracy

The army needs to be subordinate to the government, we have taken a big leap and their is no going back

However our politicians are idiots and morons and crooks and also need to be accountable for their corruption and lack of performance

By sub-ordinate you mean that anyone can criticize/mudsling on them publically of the crime they have not committed yet.....?????.........what is the point of Defence Minister's criticism on army....????.......Ohhhh.....it slips off my mind that he is an "elected member" he can do anything he pleases.:disagree:

Hi,

The govt of pakistan and pakistni civilins don't live in ether either---. The civilians and politicians have called the millitary a few time to take down elected govt--eg Bhutto----Nawaz sharif's---.

All the failure that the politicians and the civilians have accumulated over 60 plus years---they have dumped it on the military.

If the politicians were doing the right thing---then why does the military need to step in.

The civilians and politicians have been criminally inept at managing the business of running a nation.

Everytime the military comes into power is due to the failure of the policies of the civilians and their elected officials.

Pakistani civilians and the politicians have not learnt to live with the military---. First the civilians and the politicians have to agree that the nations needs to move ahead----and in case for the nation to move ahead---the politicians and civilians need to do a better job at managing the nation and not butt heads with the man with the gun.

Making peace with TTP---murderers of soldiers---those who slaughtered and skinned our soldiers alive---you want to sit at the peace table with them and let my soldier down---it won't happen.

This is not a question of being untouchable. The politicians who are running the country dont have character beyond reproach. They need to establish credibility first before they start to chastise military.

On the question of prisoner release, the army reservation is quite well placed. The army arrested these terrorists. Its the army conducting operations and arresting people through intelligence. If these prisoners were to be released, its a very sensible argument that army should have been consulted.
