Now, while the government is being cautious about its supply of masks for the country’s population, it seems that the administration has yet to implement a temporary ban on the export of masks, a move that Taiwan has recently enforced to ensure that the island has sufficient supply.

Last weekend, Chinese singer Hu Haiquan reportedly sent 160,000 masks from Singapore to China to help with the shortage there.

According to a Weibo post by the singer’s venture capital fund Haiquan Fund on 2 February, Hu was spotted at Changi Airport with 40 boxes filled with approximately 80,000 pieces of masks to be delivered to those in need in his native country, China.

China’s state-controlled oil explorer PetroChina Co. has directed employees in 20 countries to buy face masks and send them home to help combat the lethal coronavirus.

Employees from Rio to Houston to Lagos are rushing to pharmacies and home-improvement stores Home Depot Inc. and Lowe’s Cos. in search of masks. One employee was able to secure the last lot of masks at a Home Depot in Texas and shipped it back to China by express mail.

I got my 2nd round of free mask yesterday, but this they give everyone only 1 reusable mask.

SINGAPORE — A Chinese national who arrived in Singapore on Jan 20 has tested positive for the coronavirus, the first confirmed case in the Republic, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday (Jan 23).

He is currently warded in an isolation room in the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and is in a stable condition.

The patient is a resident of Wuhan, the ground zero of a virus outbreak that has so far killed 17 people in China. The novel coronavirus has also spread to Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States, which confirmed its first case on Wednesday.
