Featured CoronaVirus in Pakistan - Updates & Discussion

Our officials are saying the exact same thing, I wonder if they were briefed by WHO.
They will obviously try to downplay the situation. They have no choice but to make excuses for their stupidity.

look at these idiots.. half of them are not even wearing masks.. the whole pind is escorting him to his room,,
AND NOTICE WHAT HE DID AT 0:16 :bad:

Is this the high end measures govt has taken? banda in pa hansa ya roe, the guy in uniform is wearing polythene gloves, which are good for nothing, and some wearing no masks. May Allah be protector of this nation, otherwise no hope from these incompetent morons.

Really? Shall we do that? Shall we just build a wall between Sindh and Punjab tomorrow?

Iran failed to take it seriously. Iran failed to check for symptoms and screen pilgrims on its side of the border. Iran failed to cancel large scale gatherings in holy cities where transmission would be inevitable. Iran knew it couldn't handle an outbreak and would have to send pilgrims back to Pakistan with a substantial chance of them being carriers. Iran really didn't give a damn and undid all the hard work of other decent nations within a couple of days.

Pakistan and half of Europe has been donated this virus thanks to returnees from Iran.

Thank you Iran. Make sure the virus spreads to Chabahar so that Pakistan might yet gain something from Iranian incompetence.

What is so hard for you to understand what I said. If you have the virus contained in one of your provinces, you can prevent the spread of the virus to other provinces if you prevent people from leaving it.

Failure to understand that Iran can be a vector in the face of a possible pandemic, is my point. If the state is to adopt measures against an emerging pandemic, it should consider all possible channels of transmission in its calculations.

People coming from Iran, brought the virus to Pakistan. Celebration time.

GOP denying entry of Pakistani nationals in China to homeland, now appears to be an excercise in futility. Those nationals will be furious that it was very easy for a national to step into Pakistan from Iran but not them.
That is a legit concern

On return from TAFTAN
My God, this tweet is hilarious !!!
I hope this guy doesn’t carry the virus.

Lol. He had to meet them personally to confirm.

Pakistan very dense population but inefficient health care system is really gonna look bad. Pakistan should lock down provinces where people are returning from Iran so it doesn't spread to other provinces inadvertently.

This is a stereotype. Only Major Pakistani cities are densely populated, 60% Pakistanis still live in villages and rural areas.

Also, although Pakistan is at disadvantage at home in quarantine and insufficient facilities, we have alot of medical professionals in the West who will come back in case of emergency.

Howevwr all travel to Iran and China must be banned. We should also help Afghanistan do the same. As we are vulnerable from this side as well.

Pakistan has pulled together during Dengue and Polio outbreaks, we will do it again.

I had lunch with a Hong konger today in ISB. If I get infected in next 14 days then I know my patient zero.

On a serious note, he looked ok and did not have any flu symptoms. Big fan of behari beef kebabs.

We need to set up quarantine zones ASAP.

The situations are different. Our pilgrims in Iran were at greater risk staying in Iran than the Pakistani students staying in Wuhan. It is for this reason that the pilgrims were permitted home - essentially an acceptance of Iranian incompetence and forcibly recovering our citizens DESPITE the risk of them being carriers.

GOP had to calculate whether the risk of sparking an outbreak in Pakistan was greater or the risk of all pilgrims stuck in Iran becoming infected was greater. Both scenarios would be very negative for Pakistan as a nation. I feel they calculated the latter was true and I agree with that. Hence, the need to save all those travellers from being stuck in Iran was greater. China have locked Wuhan down so the risk to the students staying there remains acceptable, hence bringing them home from a relatively "safer" situation to create a risk to all Pakistanis would be unacceptable.

To explain it another way - GoP accepted that some infected would get through from Iran in order to save ALL the pilgrims in Iran from being infected. We have to accept this trade off sadly.

I hope lessons have been learnt.
