The only way middle eastern countries can look good in front of the world is to lay down and just say "yes sir" all day.
Which countries in the middle eastern do you think there western people look at in a very positive manner? In most news in western media on Turkey, its either Turkey helping ISIS, Turkey mistreating Kurds, Turkey arresting journalists, or Turkey facing a terrorist attack. When Turkey shot down the Russian plane, most comments in western media by readers were generally anti-turkey.
And this is your country as an ally and NATO member. Now, imagine if Turkey ever decided to leave nato.
It's the same with other US allies such as Pakistan or KSA. The narrative on these countries are also negative.
This means that if EVER your allies try to discard the countries, the western public won't care.
For example, look at this opinion poll,
Country Ratings | Gallup Historical Trends
Only 11% consider Iran favorably. Okay, fine, but look at USA's ally, Pakistan, only 15 percent view them favorably. Just a few points above Iran! We have no embassy with USA for over 36 years and we are only a few points below Pakistan?
But look at India, 71% percent approval! Or look at KSA, aside from Israel, America's closest allysoldiers. Just 38% approval, which is less than CUBA, a country that they sanctioned for decades!
The top 4 countries are all western countries. There is not Turkey on the first page but if you scroll down, you see Turkey in 2007, only 5% saied very favorable and 48% said favorable, adding both is just 53% favorable. That's on 2007, I bet by 2016, this number would be even lower.
