Communist China Threatens Not Just Hong Kong, But All Free Nations—20-Yr-Old Activist Joey Siu

LOL. As I said before, it's lucky the leadership of Chinese government is not as stupid as you think they are. And if they really do what you said previously, that mean China would become the world laughing stock.
Hong kong is becoming more and more the world laughing stock, you'll see, just play on.

Well, you can say that, but you can also say since Hong Kong is part of China, China is more and more becoming the world laughing stock because of it.

I mean how a 1.4 billions government with 2nd world most defence budget cannot quell some student protest? And at the same time the Chinese government thump up and down of its "Military and Economic Prowess"

Maybe only you believe that China can not quell Hong kong's riot, China just doesn't bother to do it since it doesn't have even the slightest impact on mainland China, the more it drags on, the more will be coming on China's side, Hong kong can kill itself and China has Shenzhen right next door waiting to take over.

If Hong Kong mean nothing to China, why would China work on so much to have it return? And if the image is not an issue why Chinese government do not do what you said and amend the Basic law so they can basically annex Hong Kong back to China and skip the 50 years self govern state?

You say one thing, but the Chinese Government do the other. it seems like you are the one who lose touch with the Chinese government. LOL

I said China doesn't bother to intervene, all Chinese territories mean everything to China, I never said Hong kong means nothing to China, of cause it does, it's Chinese land, but China thinks it's best for her not to intervene, China never really administered Hong kong so just leave it that way is the best as long as it doesn't affect the government rule over mainland China. Hong kong now is not as important as it was before and Shenzhen's GDP had overtaken Hong kong's and Guangzhou is also following suit, so whatever happens in Hong kong, China won't get hurt the slightest, it's better to just let it be, let Hong kong play with fire and burn themselves and they will learn in the future.

For some reason, you really like your GDP figure, as I said before, and I am saying again, it mean nothing.

The reason why Hong Kong is important to China is because the world see Hong Kong and China as two different entity, the world treat Hong Kong and China differently both politically and economically. Hong Kong is always the free port and China have today, still need that free port to boost export as most western world have a different quota on export form China, that is what Hong Kong is known as, a re-entry port. Or why do you think we have a top 10 seaport by tonnage in Hong Kong but we do not have any indigenous export item from Hong Kong?

GDP mean nothing, yes, Shenzhen is close to Hong Kong in GDP (You are actually wrong, Hong Kong GDP is still ahead in 2019 at 370 billions USD nominal while Shenzhen is only 360 billions nominal) But consider this, Shenzhen have twice the population than in Hong Kong, which mean the average earning power is not even 1/2 of what an average Hong Konger earn. In fact, beside Beijing and Shanghai, there are no county or cities in China that earn as much money as Hong Kong on average. You really think China can do without the financial achievement of Hong Kong?

LOL. do you even know if Hong Kong is no longer a declared free market, how much it would damage the financial stability in China?

So why do you think China doesn't do anything about Hong kong? China can't even quell some riots in Hong kong as you claimed?

were you educated in the US (Or so you claimed), how come you don't understand basic English?

I never said China didn't do anything, I said China unable to quell the riot in Hong Kong, they did something alright, but not enough to make the protest go away. Being unable and being unwilling are two different thing. Maybe it mean the same to you? I don't know.

China actually didn't do anything, some boring official statements and that's it, China is not unable to quell those riots China just doesn't want to intervene. Hands off policy is what China always takes towards Hong kong. To quell Hong kong's riot is easy, just send troops there and it will be crushed in a couple of hours, but China just think it's not worth it, for now, but rioters keep pushing, there will be a limit and they won't know it before it's too late.

Let me tell you this. Hong Kong government cannot do anything until China said yes, every step the Hong Kong government takes is basically the confer from the Chinese government, so what Hong Kong government do is a relay from the Chinese counterpart. The day China "Hands Off approach" have gone for about 15 years.

Back in 2003, there are similar riot in Hong Kong, if not bigger, the difference is, China really don't care back then, the bill got withdraw almost immediately and Tung resign, and the matter was over almost immediately after it started. That is when China not intervening the process.

Again, if you believe troop roll on the street and you could crush the riot. that is up to you, the moment you do that is the moment China lost Hong Kong and its international image forever, and possibly the plan to peacefully reunite Taiwan. I mean if you really do believe this would work, please, go ahead and do it.

I m just saying there is a limit on everything, and I don't know where the limit is, neither do you, you guys can keep pushing and let's find out.

Is it like Xi said "The protest must be stop by National Day"? 10-1 went by, nothing has stopped.

As for the limit, yes, let's find out.

For a person who claim to be "Just enjoying the show" you do have a lot of comment, one may say you actually have more comment than me, a person who are vested in the situation.

Well, what can I say, the same here, I am going to sit on my chair and see how far the Chinese Government can drop. Each day these wasn't over is each day the Chinese government losing its creditability. May be lets order some popcorn and enjoy the show, shall we?

When audience watching comedy shows they do many comments, don't they? What happens in Hong kong doesn't concern me personally the least, I don't commute in Hong kong, I don't work in Hong kong, but that show really interests me, I kind of want to find out what will happen in the end, let Hong kong people fight it out by themselves or the government may intervene, I don't have concerns in my life but Hong kong is not one of them.
