Considering that the Pakistan Military force is stretched from North to South and East to West
A force of 600,000 plus and similar size in reserve.

Once can imagine the need for a good transport structure to not only supply troop replenishment. But also move valuable ammo and small machine / vehhicles

Seems like there are plenty of Options Available in Civilian Private Sector:

Example: Cost 3 Million

Government to Government Option: 10 C130 J

The UK is expected to retire six of the RAF's short fuselage C-130J Mk5s on Dec. 31, 2016, and a further four on March 31, 2017. That schedule reflects the expected entry into service of the Airbus A400M transport with the RAF.

The british C-130 crafts would be great option for Pakistan Military Support

This looks like ideal scenario for Pakistan Military to solidify its Transportation / Logistical Fleet

These units would certainly help replenish the Support and Logistical ops on cost effective platform

Well depends on Availability of 10-15 Units by all means Chinese planes would be bit newer no doubt. But I saw some price tag of 45 Million per plane for Y-9

And open market C130 are available at cheaper rate considering we do have a a maintenance facility locally.

3 Million for Transport plane is a amazing price in open market

Y-9 doesn't cost so much. Western sources info for Chinese military related info is not reliable.

With souring r/s with US, it's better for PAF to be less dependent on them. It will be just another INS Vikramaditya scam. Where the cost to refurbished will be exorbitant. Better to get new ones like Y-9.

Obviously , it remains to be seen but I always see so many platform for Helicopters and ships and Transport planes available in Open market at reasonable price

For Pakistan it would make sense , as we have Engineering base to overhaul planes with man power and engineering effort

If you could share a valid source for the cost of Y-9 it would be nice to see an official statement on the Y-9 price

Because I could not locate the price of the Y-9 accurate estimates it was difficult to estimate

The UK C130 are relatively good prospect no doubt nice 10 of them, and Pakistani Engineers are already trained on these platform for Medium term usage

PAFshall go for Y-20.

Not soon and Not more than 3-4 if ever procured.

The requirement for transport is fulled by C-130 type transport planes that can land at unprepared runways.

Y-20 can do that. It's a strategic airlifter based on spec of C-17 with same capabilities despite being bigger and heavier than C-130J.

When 8-10 C-130 type-planes can be bought in same price why use money on bigger and heavier. The need defines the acquisition. The distances inside Pakistan can be easily covered by C-130/Y-9 unlike China or India or USA. Infact USA has bases all around the world and maybe China someday have also so Y-20 comes into perspective.
The cargo is not airlifting an MBT, Pakistan Army has MBT in all theatres of war except in Northern Kashmir where its not required. C-130 itself can transport M-113 or Jeeps or trucks, if needed. But mostly jeeps and trucks travel by themselves on road to reach destination.
Other arms and ammunition can easily be loaded and transported on C-130, its not that divisions are starving of arms and ammunition that tonnes and tonnes of supplies are needed in 1 day to a far off deployment area. The occasional flights by C-130 to northern areas like Gilgit or Skardu take necessary supplies as well as usual supplies which are stored in COD's(Central Ordnance Depots) in safe locations. the only problem faced in such flights is weather, which can delay flights even upto a week or ten days, but in any case, the road routes remain open.
The Military hospitals in far flung areas (Gilgit/Skardu/ etc) are well equipped for handling contingencies and cases of quick transportation to bigger hospitals are not in huge numbers. Also, Pakistan doesnt have an airborne division like US 82nd airborne that 100 troops need to be parachuted at a certain area.
Evacuation can occur in certain areas but then troops or people need to reach airbase first and then get evacuated. In Pakistan, evacuation happens in case of floods in plains or avalanches in mountains where helicopters are used to reach the affected area and rescue the affected people. Even C-130 cant land in such affected areas.

I am not against Y-20, it may someday have a market in Pakistan but in very small numbers.

Unlike Naval ships you cant risk stretching life of these grandpa planes unless a major MLU is given these planes are just hunk of junk.

yes, we are not certainly Barbarians like you, where more than 70% people lives below poverty line. you should first make transport for poor dead people which they carry on their shoulders. here does not happen ever. hope you understand

Pakistan only thinks of buying second hand maal. Buy something new.
Well we can afford it in numbers and even maintain these older ones ,It is doing our job very well ,frankly F16 (2nd hand) firing AMRAAM and hitting enemy can be so demoralizing for enemy :) .

At the present moment PAF has no need nor a plan to add, replace or anything else regarding transport planes. PAF transport needs are right where they need to be as per PAF take that to the bank.

Bro firstly it depends on the needs of PAF.

Secondly the Actual Price of the plane is not what is told. As the plane would have been used for a certain age and its civilian planes might be configured for a civilian purpose as well. So, If PAF do buy these Planes then they would most likely require an Overhaul and some configuration changes as per PAF requirement.

The Overhaul of Pakistan's C-130 fleet took 30 million for 16 planes where the planes were our own. In this scenario we have to buy the planes as well as the complete upgrade kits. 30/16=1.87 or 1.9 Million for upgrade of 1 plane. Which will put the Actual Price Tag to be around 4-6 Million per plane either its from British or from from Civilian market.

Thirdly PAF already operates 26 Transport planes of which 18 are C-130, 4 Il-78, 4 CN-235 and 2 Boeing 707.

Fourthly in my opinion the more feasible Transport plane if PAF do have any need would be II-78 as it can be used both as a Transport and a Tanker.

So, In my opinion getting more used C-130 is not a feasible choice.
