You know what is right and wrong today because someone taught you and someone taught your parents, and so on for thousands of years as Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Judaism taught morals and values which nations are built on today.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you here. Morality and and religion are not the same thing. To imply that someone can only have morals if they are religious is just flat out ridiculous. If someone needs a book to tell them how to live their life they are doing it wrong. (not knocking religion, I just don't believe that humans are like animals with no sense of right or wrong)

Sure, people killed in the name of religion but people also saved others in the name of religion. Helped those who otherwise they would not have helped because their lord taught them to be merciful and kind.

I can give you quite a few examples that before religion murdering someone was about as bad as as stealing a goat, and you don't even have to look too far back in history to find such examples. Look at Ancient Greece, Roman Empire. You could murder someone in a busy street and get away with it simply by no one caring, no one seeing it as out of the ordinary.

You misunderstand. I'm not saying relgion and morals are the same thing, nor does a religion make a bad person good.
A bad person is bad whether he is religious or not, as is a person good whether he is religious or not.

I'm speaking of the morals which our forefathers passed on to us. The morals which we were taught according to the religion we were raised in. The the ten commandments, the Noahic laws, and our(Yours and mine) values come from Judaism and other religions who teach peace.

There is a reason why they speak of Judaic-Christian values, because they originated from the Jewish Torah and extended into the New Testament. There is a reason why Buddhists are Buddhists and Jews are Jews and so on.

Great men before us taught us all what is right or wrong through their respected prophets and holy books.

Joseph Stalin's atheistic regime killed tens of millions of people. Mao's atheistic regime killed tens of millions of people as well. This is just from the last century.
Atheism left them with no reason not to do it and religion gave the evil religious a reason to do it.

Religion is a source to base personal values off of, but at the end of the day, most of us wear clothing with mixed fibers, don't make animal sacrifices, stone people for their wrongdoings, or force a women to sleep in a tent by themselves during a certain time of the month. We can know that we don't need to do these things anymore because we are equipped with logic. Religion is fine as long as people are able to discern that sometimes they need to do what they know is correct even if it contradicts what other are telling them.

That was my point exactly. We were taught to differentiate right from wrong by our holy books and we live by those values as they've become our cores. Discerning right from wrong is what human beings, religious or otherwise, have to do themselves.
