i just can't resist the temptation of calling out american citizens wherever possible (my honesty will get me in trouble some day) for their government's BS. it's safe to say the entire mess the world is in today is because of the US' intervention in afg in the 80s. all the terrorism, extremism, fundamentalism and intolerance prevalent today is either directly or indirectly an outcome of that one decision, and that angers me to no end.

How utterly odd that you failed to even mention the much more direct and brutal intervention, indeed outright invasion, of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union which was the original cause of the mujahideen that both the US and Pakistan, then took advantage of.

Americans as a society are incapable and unable to sit down and think critically of their extremely negative role across the world. Pakistan would never have joined a war against the Soviet if it was not for Americas overt backing and the support of one of the most conservative dictators of Pakistan, Zia Ul Haq.

The country talks all bull crap about democracy but when it comes to their stooge regimes-like Zia's they turn a blind eye. This selective criticism which usually involves constant verbal assaults on North Korea and China while ignoring the attrocities of their own dictatorial regimes such as those it supported to divide Congo prove that Americans will always be fighting wars trying to prop up governments that may be evil and oppressive towards their own people but loyal to America.
