It is obvious that the intent was to disturb prayer when they went right outside the Jamia Mosque to blow some cherry bombs.

The procession went through the entire city and they found no problem, but why did they come to the mosque at the end? To rip on Muslims because Pakistanis are largely Muslims. Hindus of India have it fixed in their minds, I guess, that a Muslim IS a Pakistani.

According to reports the mosque was right in the heart of the city, at the city square or whatever. That is a totally public place.
The most plausible explanation I can see is that the muslims objected to the celebrations, the celebrators misunderstood this to mean that the muslims did not support India, and an altercation broke out, which spread and caused riots.

Would Hindus be impressed if I stood outside a temple and started shouting "hail India" or "Sat Siri Akal" or "Bharat Vishna Vidaasha" or something of that sort?
