I don't think the question whether burqa is a symbol of oppression or not wouldn't have come up if a certain country had not made a ridiculous law to FORCE women to wear it in the first place!

why dont the secular countries or in this case the most democratic countries allow women to wear whatever they want to wear??

Forcing women not to wear a head scarf or a burqa is equal to forcing women to wear it.

Whats the difference ? in both the cases you are imposing attire of your own choice on them.

Muslims need to take care of their own countries first. West can be a partner in improving the lives of Muslim citizenry across Islamic Countries spreading all over the world.

The biggest problem is; the men, the politicians, are behaving like they know it all. People should listen to what the women wearing the burqa say. anyway I think the full body cover, burqa, is exaggerated (their interpretation). I completely disagree to what that woman in veil had to say.

Why would a woman wear a burqa in the first place???to protect herself??
Then the women would be better protected by the enforcement of existing laws against sexualharassment than by wearing a dress which they "think" avoids a male's attention.

And mind you not even in a democratic country are the citizens allowed to dress according to their wish.
The consensus about what is tolerated and what deemed offensive or dangerous varies. People cannot in most countries walk on the streets naked.
Though I live in a muslim country,I belong to a country where a more liberal style of dressing is allowed.I respect the culture of ppl living in this country and hence wear dresses which doesnt look objectionable.
So a person must follow the rules of the country he/she is living in.Just because somebody wears bikinis on the beaches of her country doesnt mean she should try the same in a muslim country.And the same goes with a woman wearing burqa in a western/European country.

People from various countries coming to Europe(example)used to adapt to the rules of the ''host'' countries,all was fine untill some idiots(muslim extremists)started a campaign against all who are not muslim(their way,which is a radical wrong way).
When my father and mother came to Europe in the 60s,there never were any problems regarding religion.
Even when i grew up untill the mids of the 90s there never were any problem regarding faith.
I had never seen a women in a Burqa(only on TV)

How did this happen and why?

I blame the European countries with their freedom of expression(so many studies on muslims and they didnt see this coming,BS)?.
I blame those so called ''muslims''using religion to terrorize people and countries.
If i had to decide,i would have banned Burqa's on the street(stay at home,garden whatever).
Those who had a problem with that,i would have sent back to where ever they came from.

You cant blame illiturate people for that,they dont know anything else.
They listen to their heads(leaders)good or bad.
If i cant decide for myself,how can i know whats right or wrong?
I ask my leader(some clerk,village elder,mullah,politician etc..).
Only the leaders are to blame.
Most people only care about feeding their famillies,all the rest is unimportant to them.
Feed(work,food) the people and they will listen,hungry people are easy to lure in.
But either way,their country their rules.

If they would start that in my country(Turkey)which they did(Gezi protests)and are still doing,the people object to this in a way that the government(Erdogan)has to be carefull.
