Citizenship Bill Will Strain India's Ties With Bangladesh," Says Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun G

There is no verdict on Ram Janam Bhumi, so there is no issue of overthrowing the verdict. It's frustrating though that some people don't want a quick verdict on this issue because they fear a political setback.

My reference, in fairly clear English, was to a threat to overthrow the verdict of the courts; they have said in public meetings that if the court does not oblige, 'other steps' must be taken. The question is not about the verdict being taken quickly, but about the threats and statements that are made.

As far as Sabarimala verdict issue is concenered affected party went to SC for review petition, threats and violence errupted only after the Commies tried to sneek in women forcible.

Why were women forced to try and sneak in? Why were they stopped forcibly? Who used force, the 'Commies' of the state government, or the BJP workers? The papers have already carried the information in clear and unambiguous terms. Do you think your protests of innocence carry much credibility? Or is it no longer about credibility?

Are you refering to Ordinance for Ram temple and Ayodhya act?

Years of religious tradition is overturned and you believe devotees won't even protest when they have used an available legal recourse for a review of the judgement? What was the hurry when SC accepted the petition?

If Supreme court start interfering with religious practices then pindara box is opened. Expect backlash as everyone has different set of belief in India and they tend to clash.

I am not discussing about one, two or all the wrong bills combined according to you but your way of showing discontent.

I guess you got it completely wrong, you are still talking about legislation only. And it is not me who is saying that I would react in so and so way. But it is the way how things can spiral out if the hatred within the society is left unchecked. We lost couple of Policemen in UP during last couple of months, for what reason ??? These may be categorized as isolated yet eye openers.

Someone can't simply push other group/group's to a wall and not expect them to retaliate, can we ??

For example there, was no major terror attacks (except Khalistan and Kashmir which were mainly local) inside India until 1992. And in the subsequent years we have seen a lot starting from 1993 Bombay (Now Mumbai). Nothing happens without any reason. :(:(:(

Well then why don't people fight it out in a democratic way as you were expecting earlier ??

Instead of routing Bangladeshis from assam in accordance with assam agreement, centre n state govt. r now making way for more foreigners.
Bjp has done jatidroh,,,it will not go down well.
They r no different thn congress,,,,congress facilitated illegals bangladeshis n now instead of doing the right thing,,i.e expelling bangladeshis,,,bjp govt wants to give citizenship to foreigners just to gain vote bank.
N all those indians supporting this bill,,,atleast gain some knowledge about assam before showing ur bhakti.

Exactly what I'm thinking. It's actually absurd to add ore citizens to our already 1.3 Billion plus. These bloody politicians are the curse to our nation. :(

As far as democratically opposing this bill,,,,its going on as we speak.
But as usual, national media wont fover it much,,do indians ven know or care whats going on in northeast,,they r more informed n interested about Pakistan.

Instead of doing somthng about the illegal bangladeshi problm bjp is doing its ghatiya politics.
I feel this will only lead to bloodshed

Btw assam is not indias khairat,,,ke yaha waha bant rahe hai,,jisko chahe usey yaha baitha dogey,,pick up a history book.

You people got trapped in your owin trap. You played religious card to disenfrachise muslim and brought in bjp. But they found no muslim instead bunch of hindu illegals. Being a defender of hinduism they must provide citizenship to the hindus. BJP is honest in their own politics. Assamese are liar and paying for their own lies. Dont blame bjp.

There is no need to use such tones of injured innocence. Violence is violence; what @Sam. is objecting to is precisely what those whom you so glibly support have taken to. 'Won't even protest' and 'What was the hurry' are very poor excuses for violence. There is nothing called a justified killing or a justified riot or justified violence. You cannot have that and the rule of law and the supreme authority of the Constitution all together; you have to choose, and your friends have already chosen.

I think it rational to blame each set of wrong-doers for their own wrong-doing and not fold the whole lot into one vast all-embracing blanket. But, yes, we need to ask the people of Assam what they were thinking of when they voted BJP, and if they never paused to think that the BJP would support anything and anybody hostile to Muslims, whether of Bengali origin minority or Sindhi or Punjabi or Baloch or Pathan.

They were hoist by their own petard.

It is good that you now see the BJP for what it is. It is a pity that it took this betrayal of the Assamese people for the message to sink in. What happened? Were you not watching how the Nagas were betrayed, even earlier than you?

Not as far as the pan-chewing, bribe-giving, women-hating, caste-ridden, khaap-dominated, sadhu- and sant-led moronic cow-belt lot are concerned. Can't you read the comments of one of them who is already a member of this forum?

If Supreme court start interfering with religious practices then pindara box is opened. Expect backlash as everyone has different set of belief in India and they tend to clash.

Other than the Supreme Court, who should then hold the balance?

In addition to the role of the Supreme Court as final arbiter of the Constitution and actuator of the rule of law, what do you expect if irrational beliefs are allowed to interfere with the human rights of other citizens? Why is one set of politicians busy ignoring the breach of law and order, and favouring their own partisans in times of riot? Is that an unpredictable outcome? Do we need to recall Gujarat 2002 once again?

Anything to say on Ram Temple ordinance and Ayodhya act? or the latest issue of Justice Sikri?

But this is really mad. Why should we give citizenship to any foreigner irrespective of their religious affiliation ???

We already have over 1.3 Billion and are struggling to provide jobs, food and other essentials a vast majority. This is just petty vote bank politics which proves NDA/BJP is just the flip-side of the same coin.

@Joe Shearer Would like to know your take on this if you are free. :)

Because for the minorities in these lands, who are either Buddhist, Sikh or Hindu, there is nowhere else to go other than the birth country of their faith and culture.

I would rather prefer our people to be safe than to profess fake secularism which only is against the Hindus/Buddhists/Sikhs while Abrahamic religions which dominate over 150 countries around the world are exempted from it in India.

Either equality in every aspect or none at all.

My people have seen a wipeout in all the areas surrounding our country, and you Hindus and the Sikhs are almost done there as well.

No thanks.

This is the land where they originated and they will always be welcome here. India is their home.

While our government relies on the colonial manufactured constitution, we are not Brit. We have a culture and a civilisation much older than they could ever fathom and we would preserve it any day, over any constitution which already plays unfair against our different dharmic native faiths.

For this great act which no one ever did before, as a Buddhist from the Vajrayana school of thought, PM Modi ji has my and my people's eternal thanks and full support for as long as he contests as our PM.

This land is for Native faiths and will always be one. those who crying about adding more mouths to 1.3 billion people weren't worried when rohingyas stromed the borders. No Muslim refugees are welcomed on Indian shores anymore.

Good.

Let that stand in its place as your own declaration of faith, rather than the mealy-mouthed hypocrisy that you inflict on everybody at other times.
