ISLAMABAD: As American newspapers lifted a self-imposed gag on the CIA links of Raymond Davis, in place on the request of the US administration,
The Express Tribune has now learnt that the alleged killer of two Pakistanis had close links with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
What a lowlife liar this Tribune reporter Qaiser Butt is. After reading what he wrote it gives the impression as it was from the New York Times, but the fact is, there is no mention in the Times article that Raymond Davis had “close links” with TTP.
I was able to find the New York Times article that the liar was quoting.

“The Lahore killings were a blessing in disguise for our security agencies who suspected that Davis was masterminding terrorist activities in Lahore and other parts of Punjab,” a senior official in the Punjab police claimed.
“His close ties with the TTP were revealed during the investigations,” he added. “Davis was instrumental in recruiting young people from Punjab for the Taliban to fuel the bloody insurgency.” Call records of the cellphones recovered from Davis have established his links with 33 Pakistanis, including 27 militants from the TTP and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi sectarian outfit, sources said.
Davis was also said to be working on a plan to give credence to the American notion that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are not safe. For this purpose, he was setting up a group of the Taliban which would do his bidding
Note, all the outrageous and far-fetched allegations come from anonymous sources.
So, we are supposed to believe all this garbage, a white American was running around recruiting Punjabi youth for the TTP, taking pictures of sensitive areas and meeting with sectarian terrorists LEJ in the heart of Pakistan.
So what was the military establishment/ISI doing, sleeping? These are some very serious allegations and there is no way our military establishment/ISI would have ignored them and let Davis off the hook so easily.
Here is what the NYT (makes sense and can be verified) says:
Several American and Pakistani officials said that the C.I.A. team with which Mr. Davis worked in Lahore was tasked with tracking the movements of various Pakistani militant groups, including
Lashkar-e-Taiba, a particularly violent group that Pakistan uses as a proxy force against India but that the United States considers a threat to allied troops in Afghanistan. For the Pakistanis, such spying inside their country is an extremely delicate issue, particularly since Lashkar has longstanding ties to Pakistan’s intelligence service, the Directorate for
Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI.
Still, American and Pakistani officials use Lahore as a base of operations to investigate the militant groups and their madrasas in the surrounding area.
The officials gave various accounts of the makeup of the covert team and of Mr. Davis, who at the time of his arrest was carrying a Glock pistol, a long-range wireless set, a small telescope and a headlamp. An American and a Pakistani official said in interviews that operatives from the Pentagon’s
Joint Special Operations Command had been assigned to the group to help with the surveillance missions. Other American officials, however, said that no military personnel were involved with the team.
Special operations troops routinely work with the C.I.A. in Pakistan. Among other things, they helped the agency pinpoint the location of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy Taliban commander who was arrested in January 2010 in Karachi.
Even before the arrest of Mr. Davis, his C.I.A. affiliation was known to Pakistani authorities, who keep close tabs on the movements of Americans. His visa, presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in late 2009, describes his job as a “regional affairs officer,” a common job description for officials working with the agency.
The fact of the matter is that the CIA has been working in Pakistan with the permission of our military establishment since 2001.
I’ll just give two examples for you guys to understand how CIA works with our military establishment/ISI:

Abu Zubeida was the first high-ranking member of Al Qaeda caught after the 9/11 attacks. After 9/11, Abu Zubeida came to Pakistan but remained elusive by continually moving among 13 sites in three cities----- nine in Faisalabad, one in Karachi, and three in Lahore. Nonetheless, we learned about his movements by catching lower level operatives and proceeding on human intelligence. All 13 sites were raided simultaneously by Pakistani intelligence agents supported by our law enforcement agencies, on the night of March 27, 2002.
Agents from the CIA assisted in the location of sites through technical intelligence. The mission was successful: Abu Zubeida was caught and arrested along with 27 of his Al Qaeda associates, all of them foreigners----13 Yemenis, three Saudis, three Libyans, three Palestinians, one Russian, one Moroccan, one Sudanese, and to Syrians, one of whom was killed and the other injured.
