Haha the security advisor himself sounded quite a muslim in his speech. Wow surely thats an art to come up with smart narratives and americans knew the art.@Ocean , people may have short memories but not those who were rallied, used and then left behind to suffer the circumstances.
It's good as far as lip service is concerned but so much for the policies, some 40 years later, Afghanistan is in a worst mess than ever....and there are no Russians in sight....only US and NATO.Haha the security advisor himself sounded quite a muslim in his speech. All the Taliban had to do was evict Osama bin Laden, shut down Al Qaeda bases, and show US when/where these things took place. Then things would not go so bad for Afghanistan. It's good as far as lip service is concerned but so much for the policies, some 40 years later, Afghanistan is in a worst mess than ever....and there are no Russians in sight....only US and NATO.
Sir, after using OBL and others to defeat Soviets and the just walking away was America's biggest mistake, people like OBL with his wealth, earned his trust and place amongst the locals, once bitten, twice shy, i highly doubt the locals were keen to fall into US lap once again..... it's also easy to blame Pakistan for harboring such and such little realizing, when America walked away, Pakistan was left with over 30 million Afghan refugees. All the Taliban had to do was evict Osama bin Laden, shut down Al Qaeda bases, and show US when/where these things took place. so the list goes like:
JFK
Area 51
Sad that Tupac was from a colored minority otherwise he would have been up there
Elvis
Diana
and ofcourse my favorite
The Pigman experiment
We never worked with Osama bin Laden.Sir, after using OBL and others to defeat Soviets and the just walking away was America's biggest mistake, people like OBL with his wealth, earned his trust and place amongst the locals, once bitten, twice shy, i highly doubt the locals were keen to fall into US lap once again.....
Am speculating here...But probably the most we know of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan was because of the family name and that was the extent of it. The idea that Osama bin Laden worked for US was a fiction from who knows where and when.Personally neither I nor my brothers saw evidence of American help.
No one forced Pakistan into the arrangement. In fact, history has it that Pakistan willingly entered the fray. The US supplied the arms, Pakistan supplied the corporate training of the mujahedeen, and the rest of the ME supplied the manpower. No one foresaw the rise of the Taliban. No one foresaw the fight between Al Qaeda and the US that was engaged in Afghanistan. No one foresaw the terrible response the US gave. You want to blame US ? Fine, but also blame your own government.it's also easy to blame Pakistan for harboring such and such little realizing, when America walked away, Pakistan was left with over 30 million Afghan refugees.
Except I'd put Elvis on top of the list. He hasn't even left Vegas, see him there all the time. Not sure what the big deal is. He hasn't aged a day since 1977.
On a separate note, 911 conspiracies will never reach those of JFK. That will hold the title forever.
A simple point. Soviet was attacking Afghanistan , territory far off from usa and would have no consequences on USA had it slipped in soviets hands. Why usa had to jump in? Finance an insugency , arm the rebels? Pakistan definitely had to get in even if it was britain offering help due to soviet invasions risk in balochistan and northern region bordering afghanistan. We never worked with Osama bin Laden.
In bin Laden's own words...
