DHANOA

Chances of two-front war low but IAF can face any threats despite shortage of fighter jets, he says.
In a first formal statement from the military leadership after the disengagement at Doklam, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa on Thursday said Chinese troops were still present in the area.

“Their [China] forces in Chumbi Valley are still deployed and I expect that they will withdraw when their summer exercise gets over,” he said at the annual press conference ahead of the Air Force Day on October 8.

China, he said, held military exercises every year in summer and so their forces were closeby when the Doklam standoff happened.

The Air Chief said the possibility of a two-front war remains low but the Indian Air Force has adequate capability to tackle threats despite a shortage of fighter jets.

“Possibility of a two-front war in the current geopolitical situation is low. Our response should be based on enemy's capability because intentions can change overnight,” he said.

With Pakistan the IAF was more than matched while with China it was adequate. “It is not what China has got, it is what they can project against us. It is what they can bring in to Tibet... our capability is adequate.”

Plan B
Despite a shortage of fighter jets, the service had plan B to optimise the existing resources and was adequate to tackle any threats. “By 2032, we will reach 42 squadrons. With whatever numbers we have, we are capable of executing operations as we speak,” he said.

Air force chief Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa on Thursday said Chinese troops are still stationed in the Chumbi valley in Doklam area and hoped they go back soon.

Asked about the situation at Doklam, the Air Force Chief said there was no standoff, but Chinese troops continued to be in the Chumbi valley, in the southern reaches of Tibet along the Line of Actual Control.

The Air Force chief also hoped that India and China will diplomatically resolve the issue.

“The two sides are not in a physical face off as we speak, in face to face contact. However, their (Chinese) forces in Chumbi valley are still deployed,” Dhanoa said.

“I expect the forces to withdraw in the future as their exercises in that area get over,” he said.

“Both countries are major economic and political powers in the region, I expect them to display maturity in resolving the issues. Peaceful resolution of such issues will be in the interest of both countries and I am confident that at the political and diplomatic level it is being done,” he said at the annual press conference of IAF ahead of the Air Force Day on October 8.

The Air Force Chief also made it clear that there were no air space violations during the two-and-a-half month long stand-off in Doklam, though Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force was present in the Tibetan plateau on two airfields.

“The Chinese air force during the summer months always carries out an exercise in Tibet in which their two main airfields were full even during the Doklam operations. They will start clearing out as the weather becomes colder and their exercise gets over,” Dhanoa said.

“As far as flying goes, we have these measures, armed fighters don’t go beyond 20 km from the perceived LAC that was not violated by either side,” he said.

“We had a standoff on the ground but in the air there was no standoff.”

He said IAF’s role during the stand-off was limited to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

“Our basic thrust was on ISR through various medium, we did want to know what was happening. We did not infringe on this boundary.”

The IAF Chief however added that the IAF is always “ready for any contingency which may or may not take place”.

If Indians are itching for war, than it must be more of Political move, rather than Military .. Look how Surgical Strike Drama help Modi Govt win the election .. Indians are not very smart as they think they are, their Govt made a fool out of them and even until today they are convinced on Surgical strikes without a shred of proof, and anyone who dare ask for it becomes Anti-Nationalist .

There is no more face off as India retreated. China can take its time to build a road, a bunker, which it already done, or even build an airstrip if it choose too..

Indian troops no longer can do anything in this sector as India pulled back.

This best victory is not just the one without fire a shot. But the one that make India believe that they won at first. After a while, Indians will realize that they got screwed over big time. Similar to the free carrier deal.

Air force chief never said they are in Doklam but said they are in chumbi valley which is a legitimate part of China recognised by everyone and has nothing to do with Doklam.

Yesterday IAF chief said that IAF can tackle Pakistan & China air forces together and now he is begging China to take back its troops :D :D :D

Where are those indians whom were saying that we will make China withdraw their forces forcefully??

Isai kehtai hain rang baazian

lol India can only hope they go back. Kawa chala hans ki chal apni bhi bhool betha.

He meant we cannot send them back by force hope they will leave by them selves lol.

Chumbi valley dont belong to india, its part of china. Even Doklam dont belong to india and india protested at a place where chinese were building road towards india not entire doklam.
