Chinese to donate one million metric tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka

Well the Chinese have been hoarding rice from the rest of the world and jacking up the prices for the poor countries such as Sri Lanka. I call this hypocrisy.

Any proof to back your statement? Any data?

China has more than sufficient rice production.

China is net exporter of rice mainly.

While US is net importer of rice
Over the past 5 years, the United States has imported, on average, about 11 percent of its total supply of rice, with a record 14 percent in 2019/20.

Now India will donate 2 million tonnes of rice, starting a never ending rice donation wars, resulting in India facing a famine, because of rice shortages in India started by Chinese donation of rice to Sri Lanka.

This is an evil plan against India,
be ready for such news
India has a gargantuan 77 million tonne grain surplus (rice and wheat) in government granaries alone.
1 million tonne is absolute peanuts for India thanks to the mighty Indian agricultural sector.

But why this ?

But why this ?
That is because they are unable to afford it not because they is a lack of availability of food. In fact in amount of food available for consumption; India ranks the highest in South Asia

This is incredible and simply unbelievable.

China generosity in donating 1 million metric tons to rice to a friendly nation is now being question as a diabolical scheme.

It is now a rice trap.

China's rice imports surged in 2021 to a multi-year high of 4.75 million tons while exports 2.6 million tons(China produced 149.5million tons rice in 2021), mainly due to an increase in broken rice imports from India. Historically, China's rice imports mainly come from Asian suppliers Vietnam, Myanmar, Pakistan and Thailand. With the exception of Myanmar, rice exports from these countries to China have all increased.

What is surprising is the surge in broken rice imports. In 2020, broken rice accounted for 1/3 of total rice imports, while in 2021, broken rice accounted for 52 per cent of total imports. In the past few years, China has imported less than 50,000 tons of rice from India. But since India got market access for non-Basmati rice from China, India exported 1 million tons of broken rice to China in 2021 because Indian broken rice is more competitive than China's domestic rice prices and competitors' prices. Broken rice imported from China is mainly used in feed production, liquor production and snack production.

Strange, how can that happen? why no such a thing happened in China?

Sure....so hilarious.....

After ripping Sri Lanka off and pushing it towards bankruptcy, Chinese are giving them rice to survive...Lol...ensuring they don't die without paying them
A very tall claim. Who runs Sri lanka? do you also blame India's abysmal performance in human development index on China? Sri lanka scored way better than India in this regard.
