Chinese Supercomputer Wrests Title From U.S.

they also built ms/google/ibm.

I mean we can sit here and posting online because there is a country called india.

of course, they rely on our power generators to have enough electiricity supply, they rely on our mobile network to their citizens to talk on mobile, they rely on our core routers to build the backbone of their internet, these are just simply tasks left to Chinese.

indians are all working hard to build a better america.

I dont know how many times i need to educate u let me answer ur point one by one
1)Power Generator
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) (BSE: 500103, NSE: BHEL) is one of the oldest and largest state-owned engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy-related and infrastructure sector which includes Power, Railways, Telecom, Transmission and Distribution, Oil and Gas sectors and many more It is the 12th largest power equipment manufacturer in the world

see the below link to see the power equipment including generators manufactured by this indian company

2)Mobile Netwok

We have indian companies like Airtel,Aircel,Reliance to take care of that also there is one manufacturing company in india called TEJAS
Tejas Networks, which specializes in Ethernet-over-Sonet boxes, has started to sell equipment in North America.

3)Core Router

Again we have American companies like Cisco,Nortel,Juniper to supply routers to india then y the hell we need to depend on chinese for that so dont day dream that china is the back bone of india's networking and also we are working for the betterment of india as well as america

China needed this system just to calculate the interest on all U.S. debt to them.

China May Have Built World's Fastest Supercomputer, Chipmaker Nvidia Says

The university’s Tianhe-1A set a performance record of 2.507 petaflops, or more than 2 quadrillion calculations per second, Sumit Gupta, senior product manager for Nvidia, said on a conference call with reporters. That would make it faster than any system on the global Top 500 list of supercomputers published in June, Gupta said.

your entire IT industry in india is based on US made processor

when was the last time india contributed anything real to the world IT industry?

Who invented Intel Pentium processor, that runs 90 percent of all computers? Answer is Vinod Dham an INDIAN Punjabi, He is known as the "Father of the Pentium chip". He is also one of the co-inventors of non-volatile flash memory. He rose to the position of vice-president of Intel.

Who invented Hotmail ? Answer is Sabeer Bhatia an INDIAN Punjabi, Hotmail was sold to Microsoft for a reported sum of $400million on December 30, 1997 (Bhatia's 29th birthday).

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited... in the energy-related (that's why power-cut is the norm in India where 24*7 power is non-existant? ) and infrastructure sector (that's why india is famous for its world-class infrastructure?) which includes Power ( yeah, chest-thumping Power! ) , Railways (you mean that one where people sitting on top of "trains" and even more people pooping below them along rail tracks?) , Telecom (pleeeez...), Transmission and Distribution ( transmission, eh? yeah right )

So Bharat is the "brain" behind India's "world class IT", or Jenny is?

You know Jenny, right? "Good morning. This is Jennifer *ahem* speaking. How could i help you today? " rings the bell? :D

Airtel,Aircel,Reliance ? only are phone service providers?

TEJAS? Is that the one has sth to do with that world class airplane of yours on the drawingboard as well? Then i feel sorry for North Amercian clients since the delivering date may well be 2070 even though the sale is made today...

3)Core Router

Again we have American companies like Cisco,Nortel,Juniper...

we are talking about India's "IT". Which part of those keywords you don't understand?

So what, senior product manager? It is all about project management of a product line, responsible for its cost, schedule, likely P&L, marketing & sales which naturally includes " conference call with reporters"... It by and large has little to do with R&D scientists of the products.

One may be a senior product manager of Nike Air and can talk non-stop in a press release and knows every single sales outlet in the town, while having no clue where is the main entrance of Nike Air Cushion Technology Lab. Get it? :coffee:

Besides, the CEO of Nvidia is called Huang, a popular Han Chinese surname FYI. :smitten:

Who invented Intel Pentium processor? Intel scientists did.

He is known as the "Father of the Pentium chip" (to Indians), claim Indians. My advice to you is to be more creative for christ sake, not alway "father of this and that". How about "Brother or Cousin of" instead?

Who invented Hotmail ? Answer is Sabeer Bhatia an INDIAN Punjabi, Hotmail was sold to Microsoft for a reported sum of $400million on December 30, 1997 (Bhatia's 29th birthday).

"Who invented Hotmail ? "

"Invented"? No one.

Hotmail is merely a service amonst many other similar simple services, like Sunday morning newspaper delivering, or laundry, or restaurant, or millions other services available, oke? It's money-making, that's it.

Who cares who "invented"Hotmail, the same as who cares which Jack "invented" Sunshine Laundry, or which Joe "invented" All Bullsh!t Newspaper Delivering or Pappa's Great Pizza takeaway?

For those who said building world's fastest super computer is ego building are just loosers. Wait till China using this toy to crack solutions for military stuff, instead of building actual prototypes, they can refine their R&D with simulations, may be they already have done that?

Wonder if they can use a supercomputer to simulate/design a supercomputer.

I doubt it very much. As I see it, designing a supercomputer is about smartness of brain (dealing with software), not the speed related to the amount of info one must handle which is the gist of a supercomputer.

. . .
who told you there are "synchronous threads"? how about stop pretending to be an expert in this area, shut up your big mouth and listen to Dr. Peaceful?
Synchronous not in the "technical" sense, but in layman terms (this is not a technical site), where the executions are interrelated to each other.
If you claim you are a 'Dr.', then I really pity the attitude, if not ... You might need to change your attitude before becoming one.

No need to bash each other. Every country has its own smart people. It's good to see that India also has some achievements. This is good for its own people, and the world because we all live on this planet.

You have greatly mistaken their contributions:

Dham assisted with the development of Pentium at Intel. He did not do so anywhere near Indian borders. Furthermore, i486 was by far the largest breakthrough in CPU, not Pentium. Pentium family processors were merely commercial processors made more cost efficient to mass produce. Therefore, his contributions pertained to the technologies related to cost cutting, not peformance improvment.

As for Bhatia, first he was educated and employed respectively at Stanford University, US and Apple, US, not India. Second, he wasn't the sole, but co-inventor of Hotmail, along with Jack Smith. Webmail programs in the 1990s were as common as toilet paper today. However, what Bhatia was clever on was to make hotmail free (common practice to promote low tech products), which then rose in popularity. What MS wanted to buy wasn't the technology, but the user base. Moreover, Hotmail became renowned not before but only after Microsoft's acquisition which then had it intergrated into the MS networking system. And as Windows became the dominate OS towards the late 1990s with the introduction of Windows 98, so did Hotmail.

While I understand that these are great personal achievements, I do not understand why you are proud of people who contribute to the United States in the United States. The supercomputer in stark contrast, contributes to China in China.

Lastly, Is it me or did you actually say that "Pentium ran on 90% of all computers?" Intel stands at 80% of the global CPU market. And most of that share are in chip sets, specifically designed for portable devices which are completely different from Pentium both in size and architecture. Furthermore, the newer Core brand has a totally distinct architecture. Why are you making this up?

I'm not saying that supercomputers are high-tech, but your examples to debunk the technology behind supercomputers are both irrelevant and false.

Now how does an econ major know this much about process chips? Do you have an dead boring electrical engineering roommate too?
