Chinese soldiers banned from opening blogs on Internet

Chinese servicemen are banned from opening blogs on the Internet for confidentiality concern, according to revised regulations of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The revised PLA Internal Administration Regulations, which came into force on June 15, prohibited soldiers from creating website, homepage, or blog on the Internet, according to Saturday's Beijing News.

"It means soldiers cannot open blogs on the Internet no matter he or she does it in the capacity of a soldier or not," Wan Long, the political commissar of a regiment in the Guangzhou Military Area Command, was quoted by the PLA Daily as saying.

"The Internet is complicated and we should guard against online traps," he said.

The revised regulations also banned soldiers from issuing "longly hearts" and job hunting advertisements on mass media.

"If information of military officers and their unit aroused attention of people with ulterior motives, it'll pose threat to confidentiality of the armed forces," Yang Jigui, commander of the Xigaze military sub-command in Tibet Autonomous Region, was quoted as saying.

China bans 2.3m PLA soldiers from blogging

China has banned its 2.3 million soldiers from internet blogging, state media report.

A new regulation prohibits the People's Liberation Army (PLA) from creating websites or blogs, citing confidentiality concerns, the official Xinhua news agency says.

China operates vast internet censorship, dubbed the "great firewall of China".

Websites deemed sensitive by the government are routinely blocked.

"Soldiers cannot open blogs on the internet no matter (whether) he or she does it in the capacity of a soldier or not," Xinhua quoted Wan Long, a political commissar of the PLA, as saying.

"The internet is complicated and we should guard against online traps".

The directive, which went into effect on 15 June, also banned military employees from placing job-hunting or lonely hearts advertisements in the media.

.
Completely understandable. But I suppose it could have been restricted to only higher ranks.

.
Indian army personnels also have been strictly directed to close their social networking accounts.. so , its not a big issue, if china have banned their soldiers from blogging..ultimately, it is related to defence n security..

.
It is also the same for Pakistan. All blogging are done in pseudonyms and with discretion. Normal OPSEC procedure.

.
There must be a new secret project within the Chinese military...

. .
NOTHING WRONG by stopping soldiers posting on blogs during their active service life.
