What's new

Chinese shipbuilders win all 17 global orders for PCTC in January amid China’s booming car exports

neither our saiths, nor our govts and babus have enough vision or mental capacity to make this happen.
That’s why I postulated that if an entrepreneur did it, they would make lots of money. If Suzuki doesn’t want to sell that’s fine too. Pakistan just needs one car company, with preferably the most cost and technology efficient/modern (such as gas-electric hybrids) to just sell their technology with the rights to independently and full make it and resell it globally.

Pakistan’s large market will allow the company Survive and the globally market will allow it to earn export revenue

Similar to how Cuba gets by. Also, if a company legally exports just engines and transmissions it could be the most profitable part of a car and have many buyers.

The African market also has cars that just need key part replacements.

Btw, I think many parts for Pakistan’s cars come from Thailand, so we should be looking upstream and studying their problems.

What happened is whats been happening all along, Americans were great once had Detroit, then came cheaper germans, then came cheaper Japanese, then Koreans, today China, anybody’s guess who comes next.
Manufacturing will move to lowest cost continuously, be it cars or washing machines.
The Chinese are also advancing in EV a they themselves are a large market, so they are probably using their large market to support many car companies, and be able to put out many potential products that could be attractive in different parts of the global market.

Nationalism is getting stronger nowadays. American will not buy your plane if it is not manufactured in the US. The same like how many car are still being produced in USA.

Even Vietnam new car, Finvast, is building car factory in USA.

There you still have Tesla with some of their largest factories in USA to serve US market
Not really. American car brands don't have good reputation in America. The reason car companies are building factories in USA is due to the new government EV subsidy. Foreign manufactured cars simply won't be competitive after the subsidy comes in effect.

What happened to the rest of the world’s car production? Much of the drop predated Covid.

Now is probably the time for a savvy entrepreneur to buy engine and transmission rights from Suzuki, and well as the means to make them in Pakistan and be able to build them in Pakistan. A lot of people won’t be able to afford to buy new cars, and will need to rebuild their engines and transmissions.

The real $$$ is in electric vehicle technology

Electricity is not as cheap or as abundant, yet in Pakistan and in parts of the developing world (the target market). Hybrid engines are probably the best way to go in that regard, once electricity costs come down.

In the mean time, getting and engine that can be retrofit into most cars can still be a profitable venture.
