Chinese president vows to further ties with Vietnam

Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday pledged to bolster exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam, where the Communist Party elected a new leadership last month.

Hu made the pledge during a meeting with Vietnamese special envoy Hoang Binh Quan, who briefed him on the 11th National Party Congress of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

During the congress, Nguyen Phu Trong was elected general secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sent him a congratulatory letter.

Hu repeated his congratulations on the successful congress in his meeting with Hoang, the special envoy of Trong and CPV international department chief, at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

The Chinese side believed the Vietnamese Party and government would lead the Vietnamese people to the goals of national construction and development, he said.

The traditional friendship between China and Vietnam was a "treasure" of the two parties, the two countries and the two peoples, Hu told Hoang.

"The Chinese party and government treat relations with the Vietnamese side from a strategic and long-term point of view," he said.

China would adhere as always to the guiding framework of "long-standing stability, facing the future, neighborliness and friendship and all-round cooperation," and the principles of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners" to promote each country's construction and the bilateral ties, Hu said.

Hoang conveyed Trong's regards and appreciation, saying the new CPV leadership would work with China to lift bilateral ties and contribute to peace, stability and development in Asia and the world.

If can not solve the Nansha Islands problem, it can not be friendship between the two countries.

As long as Vietnam keeps selling us cheap resources and labor, it's fine. Instead of exploiting Vietnam the way USA and France did, China is a true friend to Vietnam as long as Vietnam admits its faults and gives up its stolen territory.

Let them keep it. We just want the resources which they are more than willing to sell to us
