Chinese media cautions that India’s tanks at LAC could affect investments

The engine is also made in India. You are referring to Arjun. Arjun's engine is imported because very few tanks have been made.

The upgraded T-72s have very potent armour and are being further modified to carry passive and active protection systems.

And it won't matter if the engine is being made elsewhere, the tank's fighting power won't change.
China's 96 can be breakdown from the front T90,
Your T-72s。。。:nono:

Why stupid Indians are so afraid of China。
Is it because of 1962???

India has less 500+ T-90s in service,18/1900 t-72s (night blind in most cases) and 125 Arjuns..

And the tanks with shotra APS are from the Russian army and not indian which doesn't operate any APS as of yet... With the T-90S you operate.

Nor are the T-84s you posted operated by India or even Russia..

India Will complete Manufacturing all 1657 Tanks by 2018 in avadi Plant

And Planning to Order 1000 More MBT T-90 MS

follow-on contract, worth $800 million, being inked on October 26, 2006, for another 330 T-90M MBTs that were to be built with locally-sourced raw materials. The third contract, worth $1.23 billion, was inked in December 2007 for 347 upgraded T-90Ms, the bulk of which will be licence-assembled by HVF. The T-90M’s final round of user-trials were successfully concluded last year and it has now been cleared for series-production.

The T-90M is a radically upgraded variant of the existing T-90S ‘Bhishma’ MBT, and is 1.5 times more capable than the T-90S. The T-90M features the ‘Kaktus’ embedded explosive reactive armour (ERA) package on its frontal hull and turret-top (the T-90S has ‘Kontakt-5’ ERA), is fitted with an enhanced environmental control system supplied by Israel’s Kinetics Ltd for providing cooled air to the fighting compartment, has additional internal volume for housing the cryogenic cooling systems for new-generation thermal imagers like the THALES-built Catherine-FC thermal imager (operating in the 8-12 micron bandwidth and housed within the Peleng-built 1G-46 gunner’s sight) and the commander’s panoramic sight (which houses the Matis-STD thermal imager that operates in the 3-5 micron bandwidth and which has also been selected for the Arjun Mk1 MBT’s panoramic sight), is fitted with an automatic gearbox, has an electro-hydraulic turret-drive-cum stabilisation system, and most importantly, has a 52-cal 2A46M-5 Rapira smoothbore main gun barrel that also comes fitted with a muzzle reference system. The T-90M’s powerplant will be the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant-built 1,000hp V-92S2 diesel engine, while a 1kW AB-1-P28 auxiliary power unit will provide back-up electric power when the engine is idling. The gunner’s sight-cum-laser rangefinder will be the 1A43 system, which will also house the Peleng-built 1G46 day sight and the ESSA module containing the Catherine-FC thermal imager and the 9S517 missile guidance module for the Refleks anti-armour/anti-helicopter round. The digital hunter-killer fire-control system will use the 1V528-1 ballistics computer and the DVE-BS meteorological sensor. Bharat Electronics Ltd will supply the T-90M’s digitised battlespace management system and radio communications suite (licence-built models originally designed by Elbit Systems and Tadiran), while Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd will provide the fibre-optic gyro-based autonomous land navigation system.

In future, the HVF is expected to retrofit all 987 T-90 MBTs with active protection systems (APS) for which Army HQ on April 24 last year issued requests for proposals to six companies (Israel Military Industries, RAFAEL, BAE Systems, Raytheon, Rosoboronexport, Saab, and Germany’s IBD Deisenroth Engineering) for procuring 1,657 active protection systems (APS) worth $270 million. Those taking part in the Indian bid were Russia’s Kolomna-based KBM Engineering Design Bureau with its Arena-E APS on offer, IMI of Israel with its Iron Fist suite on offer, RAFAEL’s Trophy APS, Raytheon’s Quick Kill APS, Saab’s LEDS-150 and Deisenroth Engineering’s AMAP-ADS. Eventually, the LEDS-150 was selected and its procurement contract was inked on January 27, 2009.

The majority of India’s indigenously developed third generation Arjun main battle tanks have been grounded due to technical issues and missing spare parts, Defense News reported last week.

Originally supposed to enter service in the Indian Army in the 1980s, the Arjun MK-I program has witnessed repeated delays due to an inadequate design concept (e.g., too much heavy armor versus too little horsepower) that is partially based on the German Leopard II main battle tank, and a flawed procurement and testing process.

Defense News quotes an Indian official who stated that “nearly 75 percent of the 124 [Arjun] tanks with the Army are grounded.” All in all there are more than 90 technical issues. “The problems in the Arjun tank are mainly confined to its transmission system, targeting and thermal sights,” the defense official noted.

Originally, more than 50 percent of components of the tank were imported, but this percentage has gradually diminished as various parts have been replaced by indigenous designed systems. Yet the tracked vehicle still requires foreign hardware to function and those supplied have dried up, according to the official.

“This prompted the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in late April to form a committee, headed by a retired three-star armored corps officer, to resolve the component shortages and reactivate the MBTs within two months,” IHS Jane’s Defense Weekly reported.

Rahul Bhonsle, a retired Indian Army brigadier general and defense analyst confirmed this assessment: “There are a number of issues related to functionality due to imported components, which seem to be bugging the Arjun Mark-1 fleet for some time now [sic]. The technical snags have reportedly led to much of the fleet remaining non operational, creating a void in the tank strength of the Indian Army.”

The Arjun MK-I tank was developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and produced by the Indian Ordnance Factory’s production facility in Avadi in southern India. The official noted that the Indian Army was obliged to acquire 124 tanks by the DRDO so that the factory could remain in operation.

Due to the repeated delays, India decided to acquire T-90s main battle tanks from Russia in the early 2000s. While the first 310 were directly imported from Russia, India is currently locally producing a customized and improved version of the T-90, the T-90 M Bhishma. As of now, a grand total of 500 T-90 and T-90 M tanks are operated by the Indian Army.

India plans to field 21 tank regiments of T-90s by 2020 through license-production, with 62 tanks per unit and more than 1,300 armored fighting vehicles total,
although that number could go up (see: “The Main Battle Tanks of Asia: Junk or Still Useful?”).

However, DRDO is also working on an improved version of the Arjun, the MK-II, which has done very well in comparative trials with the T-90M, according to Defense News. It sports more than 93 improvements over the older version and with around 60 percent locally manufactured components is less depended on foreign imports, a DRDO official said.

“If the experience gained from Mark-1 is utilized fully there should be lesser technical problems with Mark-2 at present though reports of trials do not suggest the same,” Rahul Bhonsle emphasized. In September 2014, the Indian Army has placed an order for 118 MK-II tanks. However, a decision to indigenously develop a new anti-tank missile to be fitted onto the MK-II will, in all likelihood, delay the induction of the upgraded platform.
