Chinese literature thrives in Vietnam

Literature Temple??
I think they were not "workers", they were selling those calligraphy works which represent good blessings or other auspicious meanings when u hand them on the walls or somewhere else.
Yeah. This temple name "Literature Temple" was built in year 1070 , as memorize to Confucius spirit

The fact that most of Vietnamese can't say the calligraphy are beautiful or ugly, even correct or incorrect.
So I guess they consider that as painting.

文庙(the first character means Literature/culture/civilisation) in China is all translated as Confucius Temple. Simply call them Literature Temple is narrowing its meaning.

We call it "Van Mieu" in Vietnamese "Van" stand for Literature, "Mieu" stand for Temple.

I notice the Vietnamese love watching our film, listen to our music, and most importantly, love practicing our culture. They are truly a good discipline in 21st century. LOL

When I was searching for movie resources, I found these pages, and they are only small part of the whole. They like every Chinese TV dramas and stars, even those, I, as a Chinese, don't know, BUT THEY KNOW. LOL

There are hell more, I can't list them all.....

We call them Wen Miao(wen=van in Vietnamese) too, but we call it Wen because Confucius was given a name called, 文宣王(Wen Xuan King). Here, Wen is a combination of culture/civilaion/language/literature. Calling it Literature is like calling all different meat pork. It's better to call it Confucius Temple in English since Wen is simply his another title.

well, this is more than just a temple worshipping confucius. for more than 1,000 years it served as academy, where vietnam most talented students were taught in classical chinese, literatur, laws, and chinese and viet history. all viet emperors recruited the graduates from the academy for administration.

the names of graduates are engraved on the turtles backs.

i was a bit bewildered when i saw a viet member here keep saying AQ,AQ, if it has something to with BQ?haha, so i khow it is because lu xun's works are compulsory to study in vietnam. personally, i dont like Lu Xun, a cynical loser who contributes nothing positive to China.
Ah Q is a bully to the less fortunate but fearful of those who are above him in rank, strength, or power. He persuades himself mentally that he is spiritually "superior" to his oppressors even as he succumbs to their tyranny and suppression. Lu Xun exposes Ah Q's extreme faults as symptomatic of the Chinese national character of his time.

China now still look like Ah Q, bully the smaller while bowing down to the mightier. VN kids must know 'the true story of Ah Q' to understand the Chinese national character :pop:

The same in China and Korea, Confucius temple has a lot of types, some were schools. This is the foundation of education systems in Confucius countries

.
Chinese film series are classic, meaning it has an immense influence on Vietnamese. This is not the same as those K-drama which people watch and they forget about it the next time. The 4 classical films and Jin Yong's films are classic case of long lasting impression on Vietnamese culture.
Dont make urself happy with AH Q's 'spiritual victory'. In fact, most of VNese who watch Korean or Chinese film series r just for fun, and bcz they have lots of time, but dont know what to do except watching those long boring films :pop:

yes, in vietnam, the students were required to pass imperial exams. and this exam was said fkcing hard. only few passed. I found this article below on the internet. only the bests of graduates were chosen to be sent as envoy to Chinese emperors.

Trạng Nguyên (状元) is the title given to ones who passed the imperial examination with highest mark in Vietnam feudal dynasty of Ly, Tran, Le, Mac. In order to get this title, you generally have to pass 3 exams called : Hương, Hội and Đình.

CaoXuanDuc_bangiamkaoF.jpg

The first examination was opened in 1075 under Ly dynasty and the first guy who was given this title is Lê Văn Thịnh .There are 3 highest titles called : Trạng Nguyên, Bảng Nhãn and Thám Hoa.

CaoXuanDuc_bangiamkaoC.jpg

However, Nguyen DYnasty stopped the imperial examination in 1919 and also the title Trạng NGuyen was abolished in Nguyen dynasty therefore the last guy who owned this title is Trịnh Tuệ ( 1736) during Le-Trịnh period. Through 184 examinations until 1919, there are 2785 Confucious scholars pass the exams and given various titles regarding to their marks and there are only 56 Trạng Nguyên. When they passed, their names were carved on the honor stele in Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

And example of a stele :

I saw these stones in Hanoi, only the best were memorised. I read the characters in your photo, and it seems that all sentences are in Chinese grammar. But I've heard you mostly use characters in Vietnamese grammar, isn't it?

he he he... since when you look up viet sources for chinese films and dramas?

I must disappoint you. my skill in chinese language is very limited. I can tell you, vietnamese language, scripts and grammar today have evolved wih the times, are a mix of classical chinese, added with a favor of chinese-vietnamese dialect (nom), a fresh breeze of french and portugese, and last but not least the indigenous people of southeast asia.

haha, It is you! what you are talking about is exactly a vivid description of your people, bullying the weak neighbouring countries like laos and combodia while fearful of China, having been paying tributes to China throughout the history. you people should be thankful that you have such a benevolent and merciful neighbour that is China, who taught you so many things, from dressing to cooking ,from reading to writing ,and finally draged you people out of the jungles and helped you people to stand on your own feet. i guess the reason why you are so impressed by AQ is that you find AQ is simply a mirror image of you, a long lost twin brother, lol.
