I have some doubts about the scale and timing of the investment. There is no report in Chinese media. The Tengzhong Heavy Engineering Corp. made a deal of 150m USD to acquire Hummer model from GM last year but was rejected by Chinese regulatory authority. The company isn't very big and there must be involvement of other financial Institutions and Chinese government.

However, the product lines of Tengzhong seem to be quite modern and may have good market potentials.

Yes, I have the same opinion with you,Tengzhong is the company who wanna buy Hummer from GM, Hope this company in Sichuang province wouldn't let our Pakistan friend down:coffee:

There are some news you feel like believing it. But this is not that kind of news that you can easily believe. I read about other major projects who were far smaller comparing to this 50 dollars invesment but they never formed reality.

50 dollars in next 10 year is like 5 dollars per year and that is never going to happen.

first of all in first phase of this mega project chinese will build industrial area on 10,000 acres land with 5 billion dollars investment then they will go for more investment :china::pakistan: n its going to b reality because punjab govt is trying its best to bring more n more chinese investment in punjab in minning , infrastructure n in power sector development

I don't understand why would china invest in pakistan?
Setting of factory in pak does not make any business sense to me.:hitwall::hitwall:

China has vast land and dead cheap labor. no country beat them, thats reason world manufacturing plants are there.

they have easy access to middle east n europe via pakistan  and in future pakistan iran n turkey are going to build railway track upto europe :china::pakistan:

Actually the chinese were about to leave then i told them that if you invest the INDIAN_HERO guy will be so pissed off and keep hitting his head with the wall until he go nuts. So the chinese replies "really that scumbag". (I didn't say that chinese guy did so dont report me). I replied yes. so he said it will be an honour to invest in punjab.

HAPPY NOW.

it will be great if this happens but 50bn $ sounds quite exaggerated.
btw where is the link?

Link please?????????

1. Also, so less jobs creation with such big investment?????

2. The chinese want to manufacture everything in china and they have got cheapest labor and infrastructure, so can anyone plz explain what type of projects, industries they are planing.

3. If one go by land area it is huge 1,00,000 acres

The 100000 acres = 400 km²

so china will own 400 squire kilometer of Punjab that is huge what they will build on that vast land?

4. The Punjab is the most fertile land if converted to industries the agriculture will get affected.

Tengzhong has only spread rumor of it purchasing the Hummer.

Hummer was rumor as no one in the world is interested in Hummer, GM is closing it down.

pakistani punjab is loosing its fertility because of blockage of rivers of pakistan by indians :undecided: we cant depend on agriculture now coz india wants to destroy us by stopping our rivers

links are already provided in earlier posts

Chinese investors keen to set up industries in Pakistan

By Mansoor Ahmad

The efforts of the Punjab government to bring investments in the province have started as Chinese investors have promised to establish industries worth $50 billion in next ten year starting with $7 billion in the first year.

A bit of news learnt that the Punjab chief minister specially made a stopover at Lahore on a way to Islamabad from South Punjab on February 20, 2010 to witness the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Chinese investors and the Punjab Industrial Estates.

The Chinese investors who wanted to establish special industrial zones in Punjab in fact surprised the provincial officials with a demand to arrange 100,000 acres of industrial land in this regard.

Khwaja Haroon Adviser to the CM Punjab assured the Chinese investors that the required land would be arranged but asked them first to establish a model industrial. The Chinese company, the Asian International Development Ltd, that intends to invest in Punjab is already running an industrial estate in China spread over an area of 20,000 acres.

During the long discussion with the Punjab officials and chairman of the Punjab Industrial Estates and Development Company the Chinese made it clear that they would be operating the special industrial zone without any outside intervention.

The trade and industry is keenly looking forward to the establishment of special Chinese industrial zones in the province. They hope that the huge investment promised would change the industrial landscape of not only Punjab but the entire country. They say the investment would go a long way in eliminating unemployment in the country, increasing exports and reducing poverty.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan gave a detailed presentation about the reforms undertaken by the authority since 2006 to bring it at par with the best global civil aviation institutions.

The 8th meeting of the consultative group of Competition Commission of Pakistan was held at Lahore this week in which the CCP chairman said the aim of the authority is to improve competitiveness in the country.

He said the aim is not to punish but to reform and discourage the entrepreneurs from deceptive practices, cartelized behavior and other anti-competitive practices.

Rahat Kannan from CCP said since the culture of anti-competitive behavior is rampant in the country. The commission is formulating a guidelines that would enable the entrepreneurs to identify the anti-competitive practices and reform themselves through self-censor.

She distributed the draft of the guidelines to the consultative group and media for suggestions and improvement. The power and energy situation further improved in the city giving the manufacturers a hope to gear up their production that remained curtailed during December and January due to electricity and gas shortages.

The high prices of yarn still impeded the ability of the clothing sector to go for capacity production. .
