Chinese firm to manufacture DTH equipment in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A Chinese firm has shown interest in setting up a manufacturing unit in Pakistan to locally produce set top box for DTH (direct-to-home) service and digital cable TV.

The Chinese firm, Telecast Technology, specialises in manufacturing of digital CATV equipment, analog pay TV systems, and MMDS systems.

The officials of the company are holding meetings with government officials, including Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Absar Alam.

Pemra is in process of auctioning DTH licenses in Pakistan and is hoping to auction three DTH licenses by end of November 2016.

The regulatory body on Tuesday said it has shortlisted 16 companies for bidding and final auction is to take place during last week of November 2016.

Pemra is also in process of digitising the cable TV network in country and has already asked cable operators to start deploying digital cable TV network.

An earlier deadline of May 30, 2016, was set for complete digitisation of cable TV network in country, however, after input from cable TV operator this deadline was postponed.

According to Pemra, the mentioned Chinese firm asked for the authority’s support in setting up its manufacturing unit in Pakistan, to which Absar Alam assured of all possible support but asked the delegation to submit a more detailed proposal for proper perusal.

This is not the first Chinese company that is going to establish a manufacturing unit in Pakistan. These usually work in Joint Ventures in Pakistani partners. A number of successful companies are already in operation.

Local manufacturing or assembly offer reduced rates of customs duty and income tax on imports of raw materials than completely built units. So local manufacturing makes a commercial sense.
For Pakistan it creates, what in industry is called the capacity. (in defense Industry it is call TOT), new technology is brought in the country, work force is trained, local supplier of materials are educated and further motivated to invest in new technologies etc.
It is a win win situation, no matter from whatever angle you see.

Right about kodi there is a uk guys and he broadcast all football in hd from all over the world for 120£ my friend using that service for few months now and its better than star shit! I cant subscribe because i go shitty internet in my area

theres no such thing as no corruption. just the scale of corruption is the factor here. the chinese go by the philosophy of "make money" and thats what they want to do and will do. just someone on the middle wants a slice of the pie too.
