Why Lahore? Why not Karachi or Islamabad?

I hate the current design of Lahore airport. It is neither modern, nor functional so I welcome this new design. It looks far more modern than the current and I hope it will be much more functional and expansive. It should also be able to land A380s.

I would have personally preferred Zaha Hadid (who recently died but her company of architects is alive). She designed some of the most futuristic and functional buildings including airport and stadiums. But she is expensive but I guess $300 million is huge sum and we could have opted for much better contractor. Let's hope the corruption is kept min....(Meri Saadagi dekh kia chahta hoon)

Karachi 6.2m vs 12m capacity.

It will be years before Karachi need expansion. Right now they are working on Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar expansions/new airports because traffic have increased beyond existing capacity. Maybe after 5 years they will think about Karachi airport expansion.

Karachi was always the hub of civil aviation in Pakistan, and naturally so, as it lies right on the airways connecting Middle East to Far East.

Do you still not understand why Karachi, gets only 6.2m passengers!

If Karachi was in Punjab it would have a new airport built every year.

No I don't get it. It gets 6.2m because demand isn't higher, no issue of capacity which is 12m.

Who built the previous airport??

A. Scientists don't make infrastructure, engineers do.
B. Giving contract for infrastructure isn't a bad thing for a country, I work in Canada and my company gets majority of its infrastructure projects from US, does that mean US is failed state?
C. The design may take place in China, but the actual contractor work will be in Pakistan which will be undertaken by Pakistani companies.
D. A company generally outsources some of the other facets of the design such as MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to other companies and there is very good probability that the out-sourced company would be Pakistani because of cheaper cost.
E. You need to grow up fast.

These are the basic facts, about which our public is not informed by media.
If we had sold Pak steel mills to Saudi investors, it would have been equivalent to mining gold.
Sad it was not sold due to international conspiracy.

It doesn't get more because many of the international flights that were operated from KHI have been diverted to LHE and ISB..

That airport is just recently built few years back and now they are awarding a new contract and after few years later there will be another new contract...............those thieves in Pakistani Govt. are looking new ways to make money from these contracts...........
