Chinese Communists flirt with democracy to infuse fresh blood

let me share what i know(or think i know)

a) generally the people have faith in the CCP and they have managed this current economical crisis very well, i believe if there are hiccups the people will allow time for the CCP to fix the problem, again many though that the unemployment rate in china would cause great problems due to the current crisis, but angre jobless mobs have largely not bear fruit and the economy is better now, though it is always difficult to predict the future we can only cite past and current examples.

b) first of all you must know that deng and mao are difference, in fact mao was able to oust deng for a while. but anyways there are always the conservative fractions but right now they are definitely in the minority. these are the people who want to go back to being like the soviets even though ussr collapsed. thus these current conservatives absolutely do not have the ability to gather political power like the long march generation or have much appeal to very many people.
the trend in chinese leadership is like this, 1st gen like mao are the revolutionaries who brought the PRC into being, 2nd gen are the people who were involved in the revolution but started the market oriented economy change like deng
3nd gen are the likes of jiang zemin which brought the first split of leadership from the military
4th gen is the current liek hu who are mostly engineers and most was affected by the cultural revolution
in the 5th gen many notice that most potential leaders in china have a background in law and other softer sciences

d) no

e)ever since dengs time the top people in china have tried to figure out a safe way of transferring power to prevent things like the gang of four from rising and preventing anyone from forming a cult of personality(like mao did leading to cultural revolution among other things). that has mostly been successful as next generation of leaders are picked by current group of leaders. process goes a little liek this, they spot talented people in lower younger ranks, then they slowly put these people in power, governing towns , states, and other posts to gain expirence and see how they do. in the end the group makes a decision and everyone agrees thus no bickering. leadership is not a one man job anymore, hasnt been for a while the top power is shared among a group of people who are voted via inner party elections. thus the top people in china are the capable ones you cant get there by relationship alone, and they dont have all the power it is shared among many poeple and unlike the soviets where the only way out is purges or death, there is a mandatory retirement age in the CCP thus the older generation cannot just hold on to power long past their time like mao did.

Thanks for the post However I have a few doubts

Mao and Deng commanded great respect among the people and people even forgave Mao for some of his actions. They did not say anything even when he was ready to sacrifice 0ne-third of the population in a nuclear exchange with USSR

Deng dragged China by the balls from 19th century to 21 st century
a great individual equal to the founders of the Ming and Tang dynasties in my opinion.A very very bold decision considering the Gang of four at that time.Is there anyone who can take such decisions currently left in the party.Or are most of them as you said are technocrats

What about rapport with the people. At any point of time they must be able to sway the people right..

Some more questions for you sorry for troubling for you

a)I heard that the recent Uighur riots were allowed to be happened by
Ziang Jemin's Shanghai gang so to promote their member as the party vice-president.I heard that the party Propaganda wings chief was responsible for this.

b)What about the PLA does it have the same alleigance as it used to have to Deng?Does the conservative and agressive faction dominate the PLA

it can't be true, the vice president (also the future president) is not from shanghai gang. the most influential powers within the party are Hu's league group and the prince group.

if there is competition, then it is between this too groups. jiang's shanghai gang has long gone with the wind.

as the beneficiary of the institution of china, it is nature too imply that the army is in favorite of the conservative.

well, i see that many indians are having doubts about china future as they are mostly brainwashed by their own war mongering media hopes china to collapse like soviet...i truly admire their bravo of having such fantasies when they do not really know much about the difference between soviet and china that makes them totally different beings on this planet..although both are communist countries but they have different values and civilizations, everybody, except fanatically jingoistic indians, knows that the ccp is only communist by name...somebody just do not wish to understand and accept the truth that china is outperforming them and try to demonise the opponents meanwhile barries the road to mutual understanding.

1. yes mao and deng both enjoyed support when they were around but the point is that mao never wanted to open chinas makets and deng did, that just one of the differences between them there are many others

2. again at the time of mao and deng power is mostly concentrated in one powerful man with his supporters, today power is more distributed, about whether a man can drag china to a different path.... heroes only rise in a time of need, todays situation is not bad thus no need for such heroes yet, in the end we will only find out when he/she is needed.

3. about relations with the people, the top leaders actually enjoy a fairly good reputation with the people, it is the local officials that people have problems with. when there is enough popular support for something the government actually plays alongs so long as its not threatening to its own power.

4. rumors and one that is just ridiculous at that, jiang has never messed with government after he retired he loves his country as much as the next man. and being top leader at one point he knows how important face is to the government, it is akin to treason to take actions as describe in this rumor.

5. deng being a military man himself obviously commanded great respect with in the military however that does not mean the pla is any less under the control of the control government today. the pla is under the control of the state CMC which actually has the same members as the party CMC and the chairman is generally the sitting president like Hu is right now, which is coincidentally another way to ensure the president is truly in power as he holds CMC chairman, party secretary, and president at the same time.

also within the military itself there are conservative and hawkish people as which all militaries but generally the more moderates are in power, at any rate their alliance is to the state and party and will not act with consent of that state. and since the early days of reform the military has been increasingly only concern with one thing, itself, as the pla gets out of the business sector and its political influence is waning as well. basically speaking for the military in china to act alone today is unthinkable unless the current leaders are just total trash and is destroying the country but again the selection process ensures we have capable leaders. then there is also one extremely important thing, the state decides the military budget and as you may know the pla is currently engaged in massive upgrades of its arm forces, last thing it needs to a disruption in the flow of cash

Buddy questions about the government of any country and sharing personal views does not mean that one is imagining that the respective country as a downfall....... There are always 2 sides of a coin.

And on the other hand Indians have very limited knowledge of the political system of China so there are many doubts. It is always good for your learning from the various societies.

When I say that ok single party system is there in China and I tell the problems with the concept it does not mean that I am trying to degrade China but it means how China has managed these problems and sorted them out.

Neither China nor India no one is perfect but there are great deal of things which we can learn from each other because we are just opposites so there are certain things which have advantages on both sides.
