Chinese Communist party banned BL?

.
I asked for statistical breakdown.

1,700 priests and other clergy members from the Roman Catholic Church.

out of how many? as of December 31, 2014, there were 415,792 Catholic priests worldwide. 458,411 people in protestant churches in 2019.

shame on you for implying that 1700 Catholic priests are a majority of the clergy of all Christian sects

1700 perverts out of nearly a million men, although bad enough, is not many many many

1700/415792=0.41%

The person I replied was accusing China of having BL culture.
China has 1.4 billion people, 0.41% of which is 57.4 million. Does China have 57.4 million BL? That is obviously impossible. Since China is considered to have BL culture, why can't Christianity with 0.41% BL be blamed?

* waffling happens when your brain stops working but your mouth keeps going

Yes, your link about Chinese people's attitude towards homosexuality is basically correct. The mainstream opposes homosexuality, but its opposition is not firm. Most of the time, homosexuality is prohibited, but there is no clear punishment. In 1997, homosexuality was considered legal, but it was not allowed to be politicized.

The Chinese will not stone homosexuals, but they are not allowed to march on the streets. It hovers between legal and illegal, but as long as you don't do those things in public, most people won't stop you.

If you refer to current China under CCP, yes the mainstream oppose it.
But as the literature says, homosexuality was widely accepted in China especially during Han Dynasty.

but BL readers are mainly straight woman. Straight woman like BL because they don't like to see their favs with another female out of jealousy.
no longer true. https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/boys-love-brings-edgy-drama-china-backlash
Boys’ love, or BL, is the new black, and Chinese audiences and readers can’t get enough of it. While a decade ago this genre was bubbling away in the quietest corners of the Chinese internet, a series of hit online and TV dramas mean BL is now big business.
Salaam
What's BL?
wa alaikum

I think it means 'Sissy Men' or Boys’ love (BL). https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/boys-love-brings-edgy-drama-china-backlash

There are errors here. The attitude of the Han aristocracy towards homosexuality was half in favor and half against, but there was a famous homosexual Han Yan(韩嫣) in the Han Dynasty.
The real large-scale acceptance of homosexuality was the Western Jin Dynasty after the Han Dynasty.
The Western Jin Dynasty was followed by the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The Eastern Jin Dynasty reflected on the reasons for the demise of the Western Jin Dynasty. Once again, half of the attitude towards homosexuality was in favor of and half against. Sima Yi, the emperor of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was abandoned by ministers because of homosexuality.
The Eastern Jin Dynasty was followed by the northern and Southern Dynasties, the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. Homosexuality has been increasingly opposed. Li Shimin, one of China's greatest emperors and the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty, abandoned his crown prince because his crown prince was gay.

These SK influenced by the West especially the LGBT, many EU countries and US state already legalized these BS thing.
SK is one of the most homophobic nation at a societal lvl ,more so than China. It's not western influence on Korea but Korea capitalization on their natural strong points to sell themselves. Note,Korea doesn't have even a single drama with lez/gay theme on TV,not even a big webseries ,no remotely known actor/actress ever played lez/gay. Back then I use to follow Kpop news,I remember a Japanese female idol was told to not get too touchy feely on korean broadcast with her team mates..There's a slot in those genre and that's why China capitalized.
China shouldn't be pro LGBT like marching on streets in Beijing and all but maybe it's not a good idea to also ban these from web series and webtoon ,keep them off tv ,but let it cater to the audience it's intended,it's made by woman for woman, woman are the most dedicated audience ,they don't swing on daily basis from their fav idols and they likely contribute in monetary basis and also talk positively about anything associated with the characters they are fond of ,either from webcomics, novels or web show,,that's my opinion.

Hey at least a Non-Muslim President Xi is doing what these so called Muslims are SUPPOSED to do. In fact this LGBT thing is becoming quiet active in so called Muslims countries. It is a gigantic tragedy and moral bankruptcy.
