Chinese "civil missile" to safeguard security in public events - People's Daily Online March 11, 2011

The Tianwang-1 missile, also known as the "civil missile," which was independently developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), successfully completed its all-weather duty during the Guangzhou Asian Games. It will be widely used in major events and during the construction of the "Peaceful City," said Ma Jie, an NPC member from the CASIC.

Ma said that the missile is mainly directed at slow-moving, small and low-flying targets to erase any security concerns in large pubic activities.

The Tianwang-1 missile is a detection and interception system. It can implemente day and night detection and high-precision blanket interception of suspicious targets within a distance of 300 to 400 meters through its micro-sound, smokeless, flameless and lightless environmentally-friendly launch device.

I LIKE THIS , EVERY MAJOR COUNTRY WHO MIGHT FACE THREATS SHOULD GO WITH THE SAME PROCESS....

Might as well place a couple of TY-90s on rooftops.

What are the targets? Birds?
